Course Description:

This course provides information about quality standards & safety professional development.
In particular;

 Occupational Health and Safety and 3 Safety Steps of OHS.


 5S: Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardized, and Sustain
 Common hazards in CSS
 ISO (International Organization for Standardization)
 3R's (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) 
 Ergonomics
 Applying Quality Standards
 Risk Assessment and Control Procedure
 Safety Professionalism

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the semester the students should be able to:

LO1. Determine and discuss the Occupational Health and Safety and 3 Safety Steps of OHS.
LO2. Recognize and describe 5S: Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardized, and Sustain
LO3. Define and identify what is hazard and the common hazards including the fire safety
guidelines
LO4. Explain and familiarize ISO (International Organization for Standardization).
LO5. Determine and describe the 3Rs; (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) 
LO6. Define and discuss Ergonomics
LO7. Identify the Risk Assessment and Control Procedure
LO8. Discuss the different safety professionalism

 Determine the different hand tools for OHS
 Identify the 3 steps safety steps of OHS

Hazard
 Define what is hazard (Hazard Identification)
 Identify the Risk Assessment and Control Procedure
 Determine the Common Hazards encountered by Computer Technician and users
 Identify the Safety Precautions when working
 Determine the common types of hazard encountered.
 Discuss the fire safety guidelines and procedure of hazard.

 Explain how these standards should be acquired by organization.

3Rs; (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) 


 Define what is 3R.
 Determine and discuss the 3 elements of 3R.
 Explain how to apply and determine the benefits of 3R.

Ergonomics
 Define what ergonomics is.
 Define and discuss the 3 ergonomics: Physical Ergonomics, Cognitive Ergonomics and
Organizational Ergonomics.
 Determine how ergonomics work.
 Discuss the importance of ergonomics.

 Explain the Assess Condition of Received Equipment
 Discuss how to Assess own work
 Discuss Validate one’s work for quality improvement

Safety professionalism
 Define what is Safety professionalism
 Explain what is Technical Skills Development, Engagement skill development,
Influencing skill development.

MAJOR COURSE OUTPUT:

To attain the above learning outcomes, students are required to do and submit the following
during the indicated dates of the term. The rubrics for these outputs are provided.

LO1 MCO1: Memorize the 9 Occupational Health Safety for
Computer System Servicing and should be able to identify he
types of hand tools.
LO2 MCO2: A case report should be submitted about the application
of 5S in workplace and how beneficial it is for the people.
LO3 MCO3: Research is required for this topic. Students should
submit a project showing the common hazards.
LO4 MCO4: Reporting Using PowerPoint presentation: Each student
should be able to discuss according to their own understanding
about ISO Standards.
LO5 MCO5: A Project will be submitted showing the application of
3R and its vital role.
LO6 MCO6: Journal Writing: Summary about their insights about
ergonomics and its 3 types.
LO7 MCO7: Interview Report: They will interview a person in an
institution/company/organization about their risk assessment
and control procedure.
