Chapter 1 Introduction
1 Introduction
The current Service Manual introduces the DL8-2 chassis with E6460 VGA Card 5265684-4 to
replace the DL8-2 chassis 5265684-2 / 5265684-3.
This Service Manual is an addendum to the following Service Manuals:
• Innova Single Plane Systems:

1.2 Overview
The second BARCO 2MP2HX board is installed in slot 14 (optional). The first BARCO 2MP2HX
Board is installed in slot 6.

1.3.2 Safety
NOTICE
Anti-static wrist strap must be worn for removing/installing boards.
1.4 Procedure
1. Refer to the Illustration 2-1 in order to locate the 2MP2HX board that is installed in slot
number 14. This board is also named 2MP2HX 64 bits (it is a BARCO board).
2. Check the configuration of the 2MP2HX board; refer to Central Listing documentation.
NOTE: When you install the board, ensure that the key jumper is present at the right place on
the connector. Refer to the following example:

Before disconnecting rear panel cables, ensure that you can re-install them
without make a mistake (each cable in the dedicated connector); note on a paper
if needed.
6. Look at the rear panel of DL8 (Illustration 2-5) and connect the external cable that is linked
to external connector of slot-14 board: MIS 27617
1.5 Finalization
1. Install the hold down bar and the DL cover. Refer to DR0415 - DL RTAC Tilting and Cover
Removal.
NOTE: Configuration to be performed following instruction provided in the Installation
Calibration Flow.
2. Install the 3rd B&W Monitor.

1.4 Procedure
1.4.1 Disassembly
1. Refer to the Illustration 6-1 in order to locate the KIRB board (slot number 3).
2. Refer to the Illustration 6-4 to examine KIRB spare part; It includes the following cables:
• two serial cables ( ) and ( ) which are plugged in J1 ( ) and J2 ( ) KIRB
connectors. These cables will be plugged in COM3 and COM4 CPU board
connectors.

NOTICE
The power cable ( , Illustration 6-4) is an extension cable connected to the
power supply. It is plugged in J7 of KIRB board. It is directly plugged in connector
( , Illustration 6-4). When you connect the power supply on J7, the yellow wire
shall be at the bottom of the board near the gray fuse (and the red wire shall be
near J6).
3. Disconnect the external cables that are connected to KIRB bracket (slot 3) :
• MIS 28970
• MIS 28982
• MIS 28969
• unplug the flat cable that connects J2 (COM4) of KIRB to COM4 of CPU.

Carefully extract the KIRB from the DL rack until you see the “Reset” cable ( , Illustration
6-4 ) (two twisted wires).

Disconnect the power supply cable ( , Illustration 6-4 ) (4-wires connector).
NOTE: Refer to Illustration 6-7.
The reset cable is plugged into JFP1 connector (pins 3-4) of the backplane (close
to CPU slot ).

7. Unplug the “Reset” cable that connects J6 of KIRB to JFP1 of the rack.
8. Remove completely KIRB.
1.4.2 Reassembly
1. Check the configuration of the new KIRB (refer to Central Listing documentation)
2. Install the new KIRB in the reverse order of the disassembly procedure.
NOTICE
Unforeseen electrical contact between two boards during installation can result in
DL failure and board destruction during power-on.
3. After KIRB installation, ensure that there is no contact between KIRB and CPU board.
1.5 Finalization
1. Re-install the hold down bar and the DL cover.
2. Power on the system. Refer to Lockout Tagout procedures.

2.4 Procedure
2.4.1 Disassembly
1. Refer to the Illustration 6-8 in order to locate the 2MP2HX board that is installed in slot
number 6. This board is also named 2MP2HX 64 bits (it is a BARCO board).
NOTICE
Before disconnecting the appropriate rear panel cables, ensure that you can re-
install them without make a mistake (each cable in the dedicated connector);
note on a paper if needed.
2. Look at the rear panel of DL8 (Illustration 6-11) and disconnect the two external cables that
are linked to external connectors of slot-6 board:
• MIS 27609
• MIS 27612
NOTE: When removing a board, ensure that the key jumper which is installed on the
backplane connector stays in place on the connector. Each time you install a board,
ensure that the key jumper is present at the right place on the connector. Refer to the
following illustration:

3. Execute the calibration. Refer to CAL0080 - Monitors and Display Board Calibration.
4. Perform the following procedures:
• REG0017 - Functioning of the Exposure Regulation Loop.
3.2 Overview
The second BARCO 2MP2HX board is installed in slot 14 (optional). The first BARCO 2MP2HX

3.4 Procedure
3.4.1 Disassembly
1. Refer to the Illustration 6-14 in order to locate the 2MP2HX board that is installed in slot
number 14. This board is also named 2MP2HX 64 bits (it is a BARCO board).

install them without make a mistake (each cable in the dedicated connector);
note on a paper if needed.
2. Look at the rear panel of DL8 (Illustration 6-17) and disconnect the external cable that is
linked to external connector of slot-14 board: MIS 27617
NOTE: When removing a board, ensure that the key jumper which is installed on the
backplane connector stays in place on the connector. Each time you install a board,
ensure that the key jumper is present at the right place on the connector. Refer to the
following illustration:

4.4 Procedure
4.4.1 Bootable chassis disassembly
1. Remove the following boards from the bootable chassis (following the procedure described
respectively in Job Cards):
a. 2MP2HX Board from slot 6. Refer to DR0586 - DL8 2MP2HX Board in Slot 6
b. FCIB Board from slot 7. Refer to DR0589 - DL8 FCIB Board in Slot 7
c. Viper Board from slot 8. Refer to DR0590 - DL8 VIPER Board
d. IP Disks. Refer to DR0593 - DL8 IP Disks

Take the DL assy by the lower part, lift the assembly without touching the two pull knobs
until it is locked and until hearing the click of pull knobs.

Remove the eight screws ( ,Illustration 6-24 , four screws on each DL side).

A DL Power Supply switch is located under the right hand front panel of the DL.
Ensure that this Switch (I/0) is “ON” (I).
2. Install the DL chassis and all the removed parts in the reverse order of Section 4.4.1.
NOTICE
Do not forget to re-install the hold down bar.
3. Re-install the hold down bar. Refer to DR0415 - DL RTAC Tilting and Cover Removal.
4.5 Finalization
1. Reconnect all cables on rear panel.

5.2.3 Safety

5.3 Procedure
5.3.1 Disassembly
1. Refer to the following illustration in order to locate the FCIB board.

NOTICE
Before disconnecting the appropriate rear panel cables, ensure that you can re-
install them without making a mistake (each cable in the dedicated connector);
note on a paper if needed.
2. Look at the rear panel of DL8 and disconnect the external cable that is connected to
external connector of slot-7 board : MIS 27611.

Remove the FPDP cable which links the FICB board and the Viper board.
4. (For DL with SATA System Disk)
If necessary disconnect the flat cable (80way UDMA type) from the CPU board (slot 4).
5. Remove the screw securing the FCIB board.
NOTE: When removing a board, ensure that the key jumper which is installed on the
backplane connector stays in place on the connector. Each time you install a board,
ensure that the key jumper is present at the right place on the connector. Refer to the
following illustration:

Pull up carefully the FCIB board and remove it.

7. Ensure that the key jumper is still in place on its backplane connector.
5.3.2 Reassembly
1. Take the FCIB spare part.
2. Check the configuration of the new FCIB board (refer to Central Listing documentation).
3. Install the new FCIB board in the reverse order of the disassembly procedure.
5.4 Finalization
1. Install the hold down bar and the DL cover.
2. Power on the system. Refer to Lockout Tagout procedures.
NOTE: No calibration required.
3. Run FCIB Diag, either through SUIF:
- Run the DL8 FCIB board diagnostic from the IP Server set of diags in the SUIF,
or through DL service:
- Launch the DL8 FCIB board diagnostic in DL service (Start→Programs
→Diagnostics→Image Processor→FCIB board).

6.3 Procedure
6.3.1 Disassembly
1. Refer to the following illustrations in order to locate the VIPER board.

2. Remove the FPDP ribbon cable that connects VIPER board to FCIB Board .
3. (For DL with SATA System Disk)
If necessary disconnect the flat cable (80way UDMA type) from the CPU board (slot 4).

Remove the PCI holder ( , Illustration 6-39) that holds the VIPER Board:
• Remove the 5 screws
NOTE: When removing a board, ensure that the key jumper which is installed on the
backplane connector stays in place on the connector. Each time you install a board,
ensure that the key jumper is present at the right place on the connector. Refer to the
following illustration:

Pull up carefully the VIPER board and remove it.

7. Ensure that the key jumper is still in place on its backplane connector.
6.3.2 Reassembly
1. Take the VIPER spare part.
2. Install the new VIPER board in the reverse order of the disassembly procedure.
NOTE: During reassembly procedure, do not forget to re-install the PCI holder.
6.4 Finalization
1. Install the hold down bar and the DL cover.
2. Power on the system. Refer to Lockout Tagout procedures.
NOTE: No calibration required.
3. Run the Front Viper board diagnostic from the IP Server set of diags in the SUIF.

7.4 Procedure
7.4.1 Disassembly
1. Refer to the Illustration 6-40 in order to locate the QUAD Serial board (installed in slot
number 13).
NOTICE
Before disconnecting the appropriate rear panel cables, ensure that you can re-
install them without make a mistake (each cable in the dedicated connector);
note on a paper if needed.
2. Look at the rear panel of DL8 (Illustration 6-43) and disconnect the external cable that is
connected to external connector of slot-13 board:
- MIS 28981

3. Install the new QUAD Serial board in the reverse order of the disassembly procedure.
7.5 Finalization
1. Install the hold down bar and the DL cover. Refer to DR0415 - DL RTAC Tilting and Cover
Removal.
2. Power on the system. Refer to Lockout Tagout procedures.
3. Run DL PC host serial lines through SUIF.
8.2 Overview
DR0618 applies to DL8 power supply.

8.4 Procedure
8.4.1 Disassembly
1. Refer to the following illustration in order to locate the “Power Supply” of the DL.

On the DL rear panel, locate the rear panel of the Power Supply Unit. Unplug the AC
power cable from PS connector

Remove the two screws , and that hold the Power Supply in the DL:

9.3 Procedure
9.3.1 Disassembly
1. Refer to the following illustration in order to locate the Fast Link Adapter Board.

2. Unscrew and remove the Fast Link adapter from PCI-Express slot #2.
9.3.2 Reassembly
1. Insert the new Fast Link adapter in slot #2.
2. Push the Fast Link adapter into the slot until it is firmly seated.
3. Secure the Fast Link adapter bracket with screw back.
9.4 Finalization
1. Install the hold down bar and the DL cover.
2. Power on the system. Refer to Lockout Tagout procedures.
3. Connect the Fast Link Adapter Board to the Review Station (both of them up and running),
and then check the Fast Link Adapter Board as follows:
• Indicator ACT/Link is green (flashing or not).
