Decision making is highly associated with planning for it both requires the

process of thinking and achieving a certain goal as well as resolving conflicts. Decision
making plays an important role and considered as one of the primary functions of
groups.

According to Trewatha and Newport, decision making involves the selection of a

course of action from among two or more possible alternatives in order to arrive at a
solution for a given problem. Gathering information which includes assessing,
brainstorming and interacting is a good technique in making a value judgement. During
the process of decision making, conflicts may arise due to disapproval of each other’s
ideas or personal matters in some other cases. For instances like this, the group and
the individual itself are affected by the problem and this is when conflict resolution
process comes in. Conflicts may lead to worse situations that could dismantle the group
but with the leadership and camaraderie, effective decision making and conflict
resolution process may produce a good result.

We can’t deny the fact that it’s really hard sometimes in making decisions either
for yourself or for other people because we barely able to know which is the right thing
to do or which is the better decision to make and then conflicts arise and we should
cope with it. We can’t avoid situations like this so we should always find a way to
resolve this matters not just for the betterment of the group but also for the betterment
of self.
