Do you know what bullying? Bullying is the use of superior strength or influence to intimidate
someone, typically to force him or her to do what the bully wants. Not only that, what are the consequences of
bullying and how does it affects the victims?
First of all, a bully intimidates others due to their personal insecurities. They abuse and victimize
others to make themselves feel better. Sadly, the victims may be victimized by bullies due to the fact to
various reasons; like being weaker, jealousy, and etc. As a result this could affect the victims enormously
physically and mentally. For example, as the victims are pressured, it can lead to extreme measures. Victims
could become pressured with not being able to do anything and can turn to suicide, drugs, and self-harm
because they feel that no one can understand or help them.
To add, I have had some experiences being bullied in elementary and middle school since moving to
Lindsay; since I lived in a Mexican populated town. I was called names, teased, and made fun of a lot because
I looked different. It always made me very sad, angry, upset, and I would retort, but I also hated arguing
against them. My mom always said to ignore those people and to be nice to others. However, it didn’t stop me
from being sad and wonder how people could be so cruel when I’ve never done anything to them. Thankfully,
my friends were always there to help me when they can. Even now, we are still friends and I’m grateful to still
have them.
The people that bullied me didn’t just stop at bullying me they also bullied other people too. Although,
I am small when they took and hid people’s stuff I would tell them to stop and retrieve the hidden stuff, which
made them go back to bullying me again. However, I could take their insults and I could stand up for myself
even a little bit, but I knew my limitations to insulting someone and they didn’t. With my friends to help me
and stand up for me, I knew I could do it for someone else also. I am grateful that I had someone to help me
and I’m sure if you were bullied you’d like someone to stand up for you also.
All in all, bullying is terrible and I have been through it plenty of times. Bullying can extremely hurt
someone if they feel like no one is there for them. However, I made it and no one else should have to go
through it.
