A. Introduction :

Grammarian mainly states that :


Adverb is a word used to add something to the meaning of a verb and adjective or
another adverb;

It has some various functions, and the functions are as follow :

1. AS MODIFIER OF A VERB
e.g. Nurse should speak politely.

2. AS MODIFIER OF AN ADJECTIVES
e.g. The patient is very fearful.

3. AS MODIFIER OF ANOTHER ADVERB


e.g. Ms. Sally explains the lesson so clearly.

4. AS MODIFIER OF AN ENTIRE SENTENCE


e.g. Fortunately, we can handle the critical patients.

Classified Adverb By Meaning :

Adverb of Manner
patiently, happily, quickly, braverly, hard, fast, well, etc.

Adverb of Degree
so, very, quite,nearly, rather, fairly, extrmelly, etc.

Adverb of Certainity
certainly, surely, obviously, unfortunately, etc.

Adverb of Frequency
always, usually, often, sometimes, seldom, never, etc.

Adverb of Place
here, there, down, near, up, etc.

Adverb of Time
now, soon, yet, still, then, etc.

These words have ending ly, but they are adjective or not adverb :
