Client Profile - Ryan and Lindsay Mcmullin

Clients: Lindsay and Ryan Mcmullin

Designer: Mackensie Shaw
Date: February 15, 2020

Occupants: Ryan is 38 and Lindsay is 35. Ryan and

Lindsay are both architects and attended
school at the U of U. They have 2 little girls,
one who is 4 and another who is a year old.
The girls' names are Henny and Annie. They
also have a golden receiver named Yeti and
a cat named Penny.

Special Considerations: They have a toddler and a young baby so we

need to make sure the house is baby proof.
We also need to keep in mind it is a small
house and there are two animals as well.
They also have a lot of recreational
equipment.

Lifestyle: Ryan and Lindsay are very active and keep

their kids doing things outdoors. They often
go river rafting for weeks in the summer.
They also ski in the winters and do a lot of
hiking. Ryan and Lindsay both work full
time and they would describe themselves as
active and busy.

Hobbies: They both like to river raft, hike, camp, and

ski. They like to be outdoors and spend time
as a family.

Space to be designed: Living room

Entertaining: They often invite their friends over for

dinner and share new wines they have
found. They usually have their 2 couple
friends over and all the kids play together.
They brought it up because their house is not
very large to host a lot of people. They have
a good sized yard and often host BBQ’s in
the summer.
Daily activities for space: Most of the time they are reading or Ryan
plays on his guitar in the living room area.
They also do puzzles and read stories to the
kids most nights. They have a T.V. but they
do not watch it very often because they are
usually outdoors.

Favorite colors: Lindsay likes tans and light shades of

yellow. Ryan likes simple colors as well
such as browns and whites. They have a
good taste in color and design because they
are both architects.

Room impressions: Cosy and a great place to curl up with a good book.

Favorite wood: Stained oak

Desired style: Minimalistic. They both try to live a very

minimalist life and are very eco friendly.
They want their house to be bright with a lot
of natural light. They also want clean lines
and not crazy patterned items. After talking
to them they like more neutral colors with
pops of colors throughout a room. They are
not big on cluttering decorations or
furniture.

Items to keep: They just bought a brand new couch but

have not redecorated the space. The couch
overall width is 136” and the overall length
is 94”.
Schedule: Complete by March

Problem Statement:

Currently Lindsay and Ryan do not have enough space to host a lot of people in their home. They also do
not have a lot of furniture to set drinks down on at this time. I am thinking we can add a coffee table in the
center of the living room to accommodate that issue. They also only have a small dinner table so we
would have to find a way to make more room because they do not have a lot of space for storage. Another
important issue is the kids need a place to put their toys in the living room area. There could be potential
shelves that could be built to accommodate that issue and maximize storage in the small living area.
Another issue in the living room area involves the dog and cat so we will need to make a bed area for
them to lie down. Ryan and Lindsay expressed that they do not want their animals jumping up on the
furniture. The most important problem to address is to make sure the furniture is not dangerous for the
girls. I think rounded corners on furniture such as the coffee table could be a potential solution.
