Letter # 2 to Tropical Agriculture Graduates of the ICTA or UWI

Esteemed Colleagues:
re. Alumni-related celebration ideas

We are still seeking ideas/perspectives with respect to a Scholarship fund, a Virtual
Centennial Graduation exercise (on ZOOM) possibly mid-November…….etc. I wish to
formally invite those of you willing to actively and proudly participate in the:-

Permanent Celebratory Alumni Display

Alumni willing to be part of the Centennial Celebration will individually submit a
“headshot photograph in jpeg format” and a “two minute (or less) smart phone video
recording stating name and a greeting on the centennial theme e.g. “Greetings from
Zimbabwe my name is John Tanyongana and I am a proud Graduate of the UWI Faculty
of Agriculture, St Augustine Trinidad. I attended from 1977 to 1980 and I was a member
of the Top Floor North Brethren”

The Headshots will be part of a screen-printed 3’ high Ribbon Montage that would
appear to line the corridor leading to the Dean’s Office, Faculty of Food and Agriculture
on the St Augustine Campus


Each headshot will have the person’s name, graduating year(s) and a QR code linked to
the recorded message. The montage will be laid out in chronological sequence by
decade of graduation starting with the “sixties” at the Dean’s Office end. For posterity
relatives and friends will be able to see and hear graduates celebrating the Centennial
from August 30th, 2021 onwards and at any other significant milestone like the 125th
anniversary.

I anticipate no less than 100 and no more than 500 graduates can be accommodated,
so please send in your “photo and video” at your earliest convenience and definitely
before Midnight on May 31st, 2021 to steve.maximay@gmail.com . The length of the
panels comprising the ribbon will be determined by the quantum of the responses and
the distance between doorways along the corridor. The various panels will be framed
and glass or Perspex covered for protection.

Given the “greeting video” collection that will result, it will be amalgamated in to a
permanent YouTube video…suitably titled to reflect Centennial greetings from Alumni.
