survive.
STATEMENT OF NEED:

The issue I’m addressing is animal cruelty

towards neglected/mistreated pets. I think it’s
just as important for humans like us and
animals to be treated fairly with the same care.
If we as humans can treat others the way we
want to be treated, then I think the same for
animals can apply too. Like I mentioned in my
response above, it is your responsibility when
you own a pet to take care of them. If you didn’t
want it, then why get one in the first place? I
want to help those animals who may not have
been treated the best to supply them with the
necessary care and necessities they need. There
are certain organizations that specialize in the
kind of work I want to do but aren’t well known
enough for their purpose. I want to work or
partner with an organization to help raise
money so that I can provide for them and the
animals at that specific organization.

PROJECT ACTIVITY, METHODOLOGY, AND OUTCOMES:

Going into this project, I wanted to come in

with an open mind and be open to any new
ideas that other people might suggest. I think
there are other approaches for this certain
topic. Obviously with the pandemic, it has been
hard to volunteer at places like animal shelters
or care homes because of the social distancing
and quarantine rules put in place. The idea I
have right now for my project may change
based on if the Hawaii Humane Society (the
organization I plan to partner with) here on
Oahu is allowing volunteers during this time.
Regardless of what plan I end up going with, my
main goal is to raise money through any
fundraisers or budget the money myself and use
it towards donating it to a good cause to the
animals at the Hawaii Humane Society. Because
I have had volunteer experiences with other
organizations in the past, I think this is
something achievable for me to do. With that
being said, I do plan on having some outside
help from my family and friends as well.
EVALUATION:

QUANTITATIVE AND QUALITATIVE:

Quantitative- The amount of money I make through fundraising,
additional donations, and money provided from the school to carry
through this project will be the main quantitative source of the project.

Qualitative- For the qualitative part of my project, my main focus will be

the kind of service work I do and how I will be portraying it through my
website and Instagram page. This may include weekly updates, pictures
and short videos taken of my volunteer work and purchasing supplies and
other necessities throughout the duration of the project.

DISSEMINATION:

My idea of sharing my project to the

public is to create a separate public
Instagram account where I can
post and update on my work to get
the word out. In addition to that, I
would also create an additional page
on my website talking about my
story and experiences volunteering
with the Hawaii Humane Society or
which organization I end up
volunteering and working with. By
doing this, I hope to spread the
word about animal cruelty and that
others will help to join in on my
cause as well.

Budget Category & Narratives:

Fundraisers- Fundraising is one possible way to bring in extra money. With the help
of the organization I choose to partner with, they will be able to help me earn the
money I need to purchase certain items such as extra food, hygiene products, or toys
for the pets.

Donations- Donations will be one of the two main sources of revenue for this project.
In addition to donations, my family will be helping me out by chipping in and giving
as much money as they can for my project.

Money Granted- In the case that I don’t have enough money to conduct this project
on my own, I will be asking the school or another local organization I belong to help
with my cause. The purpose of this is due to the fact that working with animals can
get expensive very quickly when trying to provide for them.
