1.0 SCOPE OF WORKS

1.1 General Description


This Method Statement is to define the general preparation and existing sewerage decommissioning
work procedure CADANGAN PEMBINAAN LOJI RAWATAN KUMBAHAN YANG BARU BAGI
MENGANTIKAN YANG LAMA DI KAWASAN REHAT DAN RAWAT ARAH UTARA (NORTH BOUND) &
(SOUTH BOUND) LEBUH RAYA UTARA SELATAN MUKIM TANJUNG KUPANG, DAERAH JOHOR BAHRU,
JOHORto ensure every site management staff and direct/indirect workers understood the work
sequence of the decommissioning works.

The scope for this method statement covers for desludging and decommissioning works of
existing sewage treatment plants (STP). The major works include:
a) Dewatering & Desludging works of existing sewage treatment plants.
b) Demolish all the structure parts within the compound as necessary.

1.2 Materials
Materials that will be used for in the existing sewerage decommissioning works are:

1.5 Construction Procedures

1.5.1 Site Preparation Works

a. Plan and schedule the scope of work as per approved method statement.

b. Plan and deliver required equipment and tools to work area.

c. All workers will be briefed on the job scope before commencing the job.

d. To barricade the working area with barricade tape

e. Daily PPE check and pre task briefing prior commencement of work is carried out.

f. Liaise /update schedules on weekly basis.

1.5.2 Work Methodology

Dewatering & Desludging

a. To conduct proper desludging by SPAN permit E contractor which is “ MBM Tiga Enterprise
Sdn Bhd” (refer Attachment 1).

b. A portion of the sludge will be transferred to the newly completed sewage treatment
plant for seeding purpose.

c. The pumping shall be continuing till the sludge layer settled at the bottom of the
tanks.
d. The balanced sludge will be disposed by tankers to Pusat Laporan Taman Bukit Indah
(Reporting Centre) Indah Water Konsortium Sdn. Bhd. as required.
e. Once the desludging works is completed, the existing FRP tanks will be demolished
by hacking the structure till 1.0 m below ground. Backhoe will be used if required.
All debris will be collected by RORO bin/ Lorry Tipper or directly cart offsite.
f. The site will then be reinstated by proper backfilling of soil with compaction prior to
handing over back to PLUS.
Equipment, tools and machineries

a) Combinations of various demolition tools and equipment will be used for the
demolition jobs such as jack hammer (chisel or chipper), machineries such as
excavator / backhoe equipped with the suitable concrete breaker / demolition tools,
grinder with metal-cutting blade, hydraulic or electric rebar cutter, oxy gas cutter etc.
Housekeeping & site clean up
a) Upon completion of work, all rubbish, debris and excess of waste material will be
removed and transport to the approved dumping site.

1.5.3 Quality Issues

Visual inspection required during the process of decommissioning works.

2.0 SAFETY AND HEALTH

2.1 Job Safety and Health

a. Safety and health implementation at work site are to be exercised in accordance with Health and
Safety Management Plan.

b. All field personnel will use PPE safety requirements e.g. safety shoes, helmets and
others.

c. All workers shall be inducted on H&S issues prior work start.


d. Appropriate safety signboards, barricades, shall be provided as required
by the nature and location of the work as per the approved drawing.

e. Housekeeping at the working on daily basis.

2.2 Emergency Arrangements

Emergency arrangements at work site to be exercised in accordance with Risk Management


Plan.

3.0 ENVIROMENTAL ISSUES

All activities work at site shall comply with requirement stated in The Environmental Quality Act
(EQA) 1974 and Environment Quality (Industrial Effluent) Regulations 2009.
