The following method statement has been developed to provide a safe system of work and as a
guideline that must be adhered at all time to ensure a safe yet efficient work. Any deviation from this
system shall authorised by manager level and above.

1.0 PURPOSE

1) To inspect and replace the filter block at chemiles filtration system.


2) Clear pipe and tank from filter sand

2.0 SCOPE

Largus Engineering Sdn. Bhd. scope as follow:

 Removing existing sand filter


 Inspect repair/replace existing filter block
 Replace back filter medium(sand)
 Make sure all pipe is clear from sand
 Make sure treated water tank is clear from sand.
 Make sure Chemilles filter running as usual.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITIES

Commercial, contractual, performance and completion of project.

> Site Supervisor


Make sure all work following the guideline given

> QA/QC
Quality assurance and quality control work

4.0 COMMUNICATION

All communication will be executed via cellphones.

5.0 RESOURCES

5.1 Labour

All personnel will have the mandatory permits and will be required to undertake the site
induction. Operators of plant will have the required permits to undertake the designated activity
for which they are assigned. The following manpower resources will be required for the
execution of the works.

6.0 SAFETY

PREVENTATIVE MEASURES

a) All worker shall be brief about the risk before any work can be start
b) All work shall be done at least by 2 person
c) Barrier or warning sign/tape shall be place near the edge of high place and trenches
d) Only competent person shall operate designated machineries
e) All worker must wear PPE at all time
f) All machineries and equipment shall be checked and verified in working condition by
supervisor prior any work.
g) Any work in confine space shall have air blower

7.0 METHOD STATEMENT


7.1) inspect and repair/replace filter block

− All system shall be turn off. Water in filtration tank to be drain to enable visual
inspection of sand level and location suitable to place a pump.
− Raw water will be pumped into filtration tank. The quantity shall be control to make
sure the quantity is just adequate for pumping the sand and not to much
− By using a water pump, water along with the filter sand will then pump out to
jumbo bag at ground floor. The jumbo bag will act as filter to trap all the sand
− The flowrate of water shall be control using a valve to prevent water containing
filtration sand overflow the jumbo bag
− Once all the sand is pump out, the gravel will be remove manually
− After all gravel been remove, visual inspection will be done to determine level of
damage to the filter block
− Damage filter block will be dismantle and will be replace with new one.
− After the filter block been replace, a joint inspection shall be conduct to make sure
all party satisfied with the installation.
− Gravel than will be lifted to the upper level using hoist.
− A slurry of sand and water will be pump to fill the chemiles tank
− All filter medium placement will be done manually and every depth for each size will
be monitored by site engineer

7.2) Inspect and clear all pipe from filter sand

− All system shall be turned off


− A valve at the treated tank will be dismantle to make an opening for a visual
inspection inside the pipe.
− If there is a sand inside the pipe, water will be pumped into the filtration tank so it
will flush all the sand out
− Once all the sand already flush out, the valve than will be reinstall.

7.3) Inspect and clear treated water tank from filter sand

− All system shall be turned off


− The tank must be drain out.
− A blower must be install before any work can be done inside the tank
− A visual inspection will be done to determine the location and the quantity of sand
inside the tank
− All inspection inside the tank will be supervised by 1 person from outside the tank to
as precaution measure.
− If the sand is too many, clearing work shall using water pump.
− The tank shall be fill adequate water for water pump to pumping out the water
together with the sand
− The balance of sand that cant be remove using water pump will be remove
manually
− Once the sand been cleared, a join inspection shall be done before the system can
be turned off
− Site supervisor must make sure all personal is out from the tank before the system
can be turn on again
