MMI Plus (3G):
It's not known how to enable the menu via VCDS yet so instructions are provided for enabling
through the hidden menu. If you have not enabled the hidden menu yet go here
To get into the hidden menu in the MMI hold down the Car and Setup button for approx 6
seconds and the menu should appear on the screen.

If you can't enter the menu after a few attempts re-do the MMI Menu coding EVEN if the coding is
correct. Erase it to 0 and change it to 1 again. I've had to do this from time to time for no apparent
reason.
Once the menu comes up scroll to Car and select it by pushing down on the scroll wheel.

Scroll to “carmenuoperation” and select with the scroll wheel.

Scroll to interior light and select it with the scroll wheel.
It will be set to 0 you will change it to 1 or 5 then push the scroll wheel to set it. 1 allows access
while your not moving 5 allows access at all times.

Push the return button which will take you to the previous menu. Select “cardevicelist”.

Scroll to “Interior Light” and push to select. The box should go from empty to filled in.

Press return to go back we are done in here now.

Now reset the MMI. This is done by pushing down the Setup – Scroll Wheel and top right menu
buttons at the same time.

Once the MMI has reset, click on the car button and go looking for the “Ambiance Lighting” option
or "Background Lighting" (dependant on version) .

Quick FAQ:
The lights stay on all the time the car is on when headlight is set to off.
It has been confirmed the lights will go on and off with the light sensor if the headlight switch is
set to Auto.
This does work on both the front and rear foot lights.
If you turn the lights all the way down they will go to full brightness when you open the door.
Master light switch will not control these lights at all anymore. They will work separately through
the MMI.
Lights will not go to 100% in Ambiance mode but will when door is opened.

Video In Motion
This article talks about and includes the instructions to enable Video In Motion. Basically it's
enabling the MMI's ability to continue playing either the TV or DVD while the car is moving. This
would be very handy for passengers because we would never watch TV or a DVD while driving
right!!! There are laws regulating video being available to drivers so use this at your own risk and
for testing only.

In order to enable this feature on your system you have to acquire a special log in code for the
security portion of the coding. I have included an online version below you can use but also
provided a windows program to do the same thing. Of course the advantage of having the
program on your computer is you don't have to be connected to the internet during your
installation.

You will require Microsoft's .NET Framework 3.5 to use this program (most will have it ). Don't
worry if you don't have it you will be prompted to download it from Microsoft during the
installation.
Either go to my download page or click here to download it. Please note I am not the creator of
this particular windows program. Use at your own risk. Information on the creator is available
when you use the program.X

Manually Decoding Your Security Code:

For the purpose of this sample we will use a made up serial number of : 331CE098765432

The digit order shows what order the number of the serial number will be put in for the security
code. i.e. 1 is the first digit 3 would be the 3rd digit of the security code. There are 2 possible
codes which is why there are 2 separate combinations shown

Tire Pressure Monitoring System TPMSAuxiliary Ventilation

TPMS
Unfortunately at the time of writing most North American Cars did not come with a compatible
ABS unit to enable certain features including TPMS and Automatic Hill Hold Assist (AHHA). So
although I have not done these myself (yet) it is well documented and I am providing a more in
depth re-write here so you can hopefully find all the information you require. I will include all the
needed information here for the TPMS and a separate Project page for installing AHHA since I
have actually attempted it but could not complete due to the ABS module.

If you do not find answers to specific questions here please go to the forums such as Audizine to
seek help. Since I have not completed these I can not provide any more information beyond
what's found on these pages.

There are two types of TPMS out there and this one is strictly for the non sensor type.

.: The Codes
Enable Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) (Only for specific cars)
Prerequisite:
The ABS unit exist in two versions:
1AT - ESP ready for TMPS and Hill Hold

These specific codes can be found in either your maintenance manual or in the trunk where the
spare wheel is stored.
The sticker you are looking for looks like this:

The retrofit/enabling:
Enable the TPMS MMI item (the menu item will be greyed out - disabled for now):

MMI basic (non-MMI - 2G) (symphony/concert radio):

[56 - Radio]
[Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 8 Bit 6 0 to 1

MMI high (MMI 2G):

[07 - Control Head]
[Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 01 add 16 to the existing value

MMI Plus (MMI 3G):

[5F - Information Electr.] Not know yet how to enable the TPMS menu item with VCDS.... You can
however enabled it through the "hidden menu":

If you have not enabled the Hidden Menu yet go hereX

Enter Hidden Menu by holding down the these two buttons until you see the Hidden Menu:
Select "car"

Select "cardevicelist"
Now scroll to "RDK:" and push the scroll wheel, this will fill in the block and activate that
portion of the menu.

Press your return button then select "carmenuoperation'

Scroll to "tires air pressure control" and press the scroll wheel. Now set it to 5 and hit the scroll
wheel again.

Press return to go back you have completed the MMI setup.

Now reset the MMI. This is done by pushing down the Setup – Scroll Wheel and top right menu
buttons at the same time. Press all three at the same time then release.

The next steps are to enable the TPMS in the ABS module and the Instrument cluster. Once
these are done the connection to the MMI will be complete and you will be able to access the
menu.

Step 1 Enable ABS Brake controller

[03 - ABS Brakes]

[Security Access - 16]

Enter Security Code

If your Security code was correct you'll get this screen:

Select Ok and move onto the coding.

[Coding - 07]
-> Long Coding Helper

Set Byte 1 Bit 3 from 0 to 1 Or "check" Tire Pressure Monitoring (PR-7K6)

Before Coding

After Coding
Once you completed the coding click Exit on the top left of the screen.

You will now be brought back to the long coding screen:

Select "Do It!" and you are complete the ABS coding. If the coding fails and you receive this
message double check your coding. If it is correct your ABS module is not compatible with the
TPMS and you'll need undo any other changes you have made.

Your next step is to enable the TPMS in the Instrument Cluster:

Follow the same instructions as above without the security and go into module 17.
[17 - Instruments]
[Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 4 Bit 0 - Change 0 - 1
Or Select Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPMS) installed

Select Exit as you did above and choose "Do It!"

That's it, the main programming is now complete. Now you need to go into the menu in the MMI
and confirm you tire pressure. It needs to be told that your current pressure is correct so you
better check it before you confirm it.
Select the Tyre pressure monitoring menu

Select Store now provided you have confirmed your tire pressure prior.

Next you will be asked to confirm one more time.

The teach-in process:
The teach-in process is performed once after the SET key is pressed for the low tyre pressure
indicator. During the next trip, the control unit saves the measured wheel speeds and the
vibration characteristics of the wheels in various vehicle operating states.

The vehicle operating states are basically defined by the following parameters: vehicle speed,
steering angle, transverse acceleration and yaw velocity. These teach-in values subsequently
make up the target data which is used for monitoring. After approximately 10 minutes of driving, it
is already possible to detect a breakdown (rapid loss of pressure). Approximately 60 minutes of
driving are required to detect diffusion loss (slow loss of pressure).

Testing the TPMS system:

Simply lower your tire pressure by a few pounds and take the car for a drive. It should detect the
change within a few miles. Make sure you lower enough though a pound probably isn't going to
trigger it.

Warning Displays:

*The displays are activated when the tyre pressure drops below an a coded minimum value.
When system faults are detected, the yellow warning lamp is activated.

The following displays are possible:

* In the event of a rapid loss of pressure at a single wheel (tyre damage), the red warning lamp is
activated. If the vehicle a driver information system, an additional text display appears indicating
the position of the wheel affected.

* In case of slow loss of pressure, which occurs gradually at multiple wheels due to diffusion, the
red warning lamp is also activated. In this case, the optional text display appears but no positional
information is given.

Enable Auxiliary Ventilation Controls

*When using long coding for MMI Menus you may have to reset the MMI or restart the car to get
changes to take effect.
Enable non NAV Unit:

[Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 8 Bit 2 change from 0 to 1
Enable MMI Menu 2G: *Not Confirmed Use hidden menu if needed.

[Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 11 add 64 to the existing value
Enable MMI Menu 3G:
There are two methods for doing this for the
[5F - Information Electr.]
[Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 6 Bit 1 change from 0 to 1
Step by step for 3G:
Using Hidden Menu:
To get into the hidden menu in the MMI hold down the Car and Setup button for approx 6
seconds and the menu should appear on the screen.

If you can't enter the menu after a few attempts re-do the MMI Menu coding EVEN if the coding is
correct. Change it to 0 and save then change it to 1 again. I've had to do this from time to time for
no apparent reason.
Once the menu comes up scroll to Car and select it by pushing down on the scroll wheel.

Scroll to “cardevicelist” and select with the scroll wheel.

Scroll to "Auxiliary heating" and select, make sure the box is checked by pressing the MMI scroll
wheel.

Press return to go back.

Now reset the MMI. This is done by pushing down the Setup – Scroll Wheel and top right menu
buttons at the same time.

Launch VCDS and Click on the select button:

Choose 5F Information Electr.:

Select Coding - 07:

Click on the long Coding Helper button:

Go to Byte 6 and select Bit 1:

Once Selected click on Exit:

Once back to the long coding screen click the Do it! button. If there is no new coding then the
selected box did not take. Go back and re-click it.

Go back to the main module menu and move onto the next set of coding.
[08 - Auto HVAC]
[Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 1 Bit 3 change from 0 to 1
If not already selected on the 3G menu also complete:
[Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 1 Bit 4 change from 0 to 1
Select 08-Auto HVAC:

Select Coding 07:

Click on Long Coding Helper:

Go to Byte 1 and check off bit 3. I'm unsure of the 2G but for the 3G you have to have bit 4
selected in order to control the heater controls on the MMI screen.

Once selected click on Exit to return to the long coding screen:

Click on Do it! after you confirm there is new coding. If no new coding is shown go back and
confirm the boxes where checked.

As mentioned previously it was claimed making this adaptation change would prevent the coding
error on this module. It did not work on mine but I will provide it just in case it works for you.
[08 - Auto HVAC]
[Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 6 change 0 to 1
Choose Adaptation 10 (no security required):

Enter 06 in the Channel field and press Read:

Enter 1 in the New Value box and press Test:

Press save to commit the new value and click OK on the pop up that will show once you do:
You can now exit VCDS.
That completes the coding and activation of the Aux Ventilation feature. Move onto the next page
to see how to use it.
Operating the Auxiliary Controls
The menu may alter slightly for the 2G menu but I'm sure you'll make it through.
Click on the car menu button on the MMI Controls.

Then press the lower right MMI control button to enter the AC Menu
Once in you will see a number of new options. Keep in mind you don't have the auxiliary heater
it's the ventilation your here for.
By switching the Aux. ventilation on the car will continue to run the vents in the car after you turn
it off. The time it runs is controlled by the selection below it.. You guessed it Running time.

When selected you can alter the amount of time you want the unit to run when activated.
The next option is to use the timer. If you choose the timer you can not use the previous option.
As soon as you turn the timer on the Aux. Ventilation will turn off. Once you turn the timer on
scroll down to the next MMI screen.

You select the time you want to alter with the MMI jog dial button and set the time and date you
want the unit to activate.
It's interesting to note after the car is turned off you can still alter the climate control settings while
the ventilation settings are active. Of course temperature settings aren't helpful but they are
accessible.

You can also control the fan speed. The car limits the speed to a maximum of 9. I assume this is
to preserve battery power.
As you can see by the pictures below, there is a small fan showing at the bottom of the display
when the ventilation has been activated.

When the car is off the screen will continue to show the fan.
Although this is a brief overview this should give you more than enough to understand and make
use of your modification.
