3. Safety Precautions

When operating this equipment, observe the precautions described below to ensure safety of the operator
and service personnel.

WARNING: 1. When you need to urgently stop the system in an emergency,

immediately press the switch to turn OFF the power.

2. Press the fluoroscopic/radiographic X-ray switch only when you want to

generate X-rays. If you press this switch inadvertently while the power
is ON, X-rays will be emitted causing unnecessary exposure of those
present in the X-ray room.

3. To prevent electric shock, be sure to turn OFF the equipment and facility
power supply and wait for at least one minute before touching internal
parts of the system to replace parts, or connect measuring instruments.
Turn OFF the power supply of the facility and also open the front door
when operating the internal circuit breaker.
Be particularly careful with the inverter unit of the control cabinet
because it has charged parts in it. Be sure to check the residual voltage
(relative to ground) of the charged parts with a tester. Also, never
change the measuring points or insert/extract connectors while the
power is ON.

(3) Error 32: Filament heating data lost (TUBE2/small focus)

(4) Error 33: Filament heating data lost (TUBE2/large focus)

When the power was ON, the loss of the filament heating data stored in each X-ray tube and
focus was detected. These errors indicate that the adjusted data was lost. A lack of correct
signals transmitted to the power section may also cause the errors in the power section
system at the same time. In this case, the filament heating data must be initialized and the
tube current re-adjusted. If the error remains even after re-adjustment, replace PWB1 due to
its hardware failure.

2.2 Hardware Sequence System

the PWB1.

(1) AC noise contamination

When the detected signals are contaminated by AC noise, the integrated waveform will
change from a straight line to a wavy line, and the reproducibility of the X-ray exposure time
will be lowered. As a countermeasure, disconnect the power cable from the detector signal
cable. Also, check the electrical insulation of the detector.

5. PROBLEMS RELATING TO THE POWER SECTION

5.1 Control by PWB1

The tube voltage signal and the tube current signal (analog signal) related to X-ray generation are
transmitted from PWB1 to the inverter unit of the POWER section.

Table 5-1 shows the signal descriptions and the pin arrangement between PWB1 and the inverter
unit.

The control signal of the tube voltage and the tube current from PWB1, and the control signal of
the tube voltage and the tube current from the inverter unit of the POWER section can be checked
on PWB1.

If the tube voltage and the tube current are not output as preset, check the respective test pins
below.

<Preset signals from PWB1>

TP15: Preset tube voltage signal (KV-SET), setting 150 kV = 10 VDC

TP17: Large focus preset filament heating current signal (LARGE), setting 1 A = 1 VDC

Time
X-RAY ON X-RAY OFF

Using the DIP switch on PWB1 for setting, the detected tube voltage converted from the
TP26 voltage can be displayed on the X-ray control panel. (Refer to the Installation and
Performance Check manual 2C314-089E.) However, if this displayed value does not match
the relative detected tube voltage, the A/D converter on PWB1 may be defective.

(4) Waveforms of the detected tube current signals (TP19, TP4)

The detected signals (analog signals) of the tube current can be checked at the timings
shown below. When the detected signal at TP19 is 8 VDC, the radiographic tube current is
400 mA. When the detected signal at TP4 is 2 VDC, the fluoroscopic tube current is 2 mA.

(1) CASE1 (when 100 VAC is not supplied)

<1> Check that DL2 (Green) of PC1 is ON.

<2> If not, check whether the connection at F2 of PC1 is disconnected or not.

<3> Check that the auxiliary power (100 VAC) is supplied properly. (Check the cable
connected to CN8 of PC1.)

<4> Check that the DC auxiliary power (±15 VDC, +5 VDC) is supplied properly. (Check the
cable connected to CN4 of PC1.)

(2) CASE2 (when the HV READY signal is not transmitted)

<1> Check that DL1 (Green) of PC1 is ON.

<2> If not, check the connection of the high-voltage detection line (the cable connected to
CN2 of PC1).

<3> If it is ON, check for the interface cable (the cable connected to CN3 of PC1).

(3) CASE3 (when there is no filament heating output)

<1> Check that the LF (SF) FAIL signal is output, and then proceed to CASE4.

<2> If the LF (SF) FAIL signal is not output, replace PC1 as it is defective.

(4) CASE4 (when LF, SF FAIL signals are transmitted)

<1> Check whether or not DL6 (or DL7) (Red) of PC1 is ON.

x When DL6 of PC1 is ON o 1) Large focus chopper voltage is excessive.

Check for the connection between the X-ray

tube and the high-voltage cable, and for the
filament output cable (the cable connected to
CN1 of PC1). Also check the primary-side of
the tank (between pin 5 and pin 7 of CN2), the
secondary-side, and the disconnection of the
large focus filament.
Also check the 100 VAC (the cable connected
to CN8 of PC1).

2) Large focus filament current is excessive.

Recheck the filament setting. Also check

whether or not there are failures in the heating
control circuit such as FET damage, abnormal
heat generation, etc.

3) Large focus filament current is insufficient.

Reconfirm that the filament setting is 2.5 A or

more.

32
No. 2D314-013E

x When DL7 of PC1 is ON o 1) Small focus chopper voltage is excessive.

Check for the connection between the X-ray

tube and the high-voltage cable, and for the
filament output cable (the cable connected to
CN1 of PC1). Also check the primary-side of

of the inverter and fuses.
Recheck the tube voltage setting.

33
No. 2D314-013E

x When DL5 of PC1 is ON o Overcurrent (OC: excessive voltage is detected

during fluoroscopy/radiography) has occurred.
Arcing may have taken place inside the X-ray tube
or the tank. After checking for the arcing traces,
clean the bushing section or replace the X-ray tube
as required.
When DL6 (or DL7) of PC1 (Red) is ON, check the
heating control circuit.

(8) CASE8 (when OV HEAT is transmitted)

<1> Check whether or not the tube current has lowered to 100 mA or less.

x If the tube current is 100 mA or less, the LOW MA signal is required.

<2> Check whether LD8 of PC1 is ON or not.

x When LD8 of PC1 is ON o The temperature of the cooling fins in the inverter
section is excessively high.
Check the operation of FAN and check whether or
not the ventilation intake and outlet are blocked, and
then after checking that DL4 is OFF, restart the
system.

x When LD8 of PC1 is OFF o The interface is abnormal. Replace the interface
cable (the cable connected to CN3 of PC1).
