Pronouns
What is a pronoun?
A pronoun is a word that is used instead of a noun or noun phrase.
Pronouns refer to either a noun that has already been mentioned or
to a noun that does not need to be named specifically. Example,

 This is Mika. She’s a manager.

After the reader knows who we are talking about (in the example
above it is Mika), we can call the person we are talking about
using the right pronoun , in this case she .

Types of pronouns
 Personal pronouns
The first types of pronouns are Personal Pronouns. We
use personal pronouns to replace the names of people or
things. The name can be either subject or object. Subject
pronouns refer to the person who does the job or the verb ,
while object pronouns refer to the person who receives
the verb so that it comes after the verb or preposition . Example,

1. John teaches Sara. = He teaches her. (subject + verb +

object)
2. You work with me. (subject + verb + preposition + object)

List of personal pronouns:

5.Tom is the CEO. I don’t think he knows me.
6.You’re having dinner with some clients tomorrow. They’re
meeting you at the restaurant.
 Possessive pronouns
Possessive pronouns indicate ownership of an object. They are
similar to possessive adjectives but not followed by a
noun. Example,

1. This cat is mine.

Mine is indicating possession, that the cat belongs to me.
Incidentally, this in the sentence is not a pronoun but
demonstrative adjective as it qualifies the noun cat.
