Proposition 2.27. The closure S̄ of S is the smallest closed set that contains S.
(That is S̄ is closed, S ⊂ S̄ and if F is another closed set that contains S, then
S̄ ⊂ F ).
Definition 2.28. Let S ⊂ Rn , we say that p ∈ Rn is a boundary point of S if
for any positive radius r > 0, we have that,
(1) B(p, r) ∩ S 6= ∅.
(2) B(p, r) ∩ (Rn \ S) 6= ∅.
Notation: The set of boundary points of S is denoted by ∂S.
