Canvas Student Login Instructions

Check for supported browsers & system info.

Check your class start date! If you are a new student, or registered for an upcoming term, you may be able to
access your Canvas account several weeks prior to the scheduled start date.
However, you will NOT be able to access your Canvas class until the scheduled start date!
If you have recently registered for a current term, it will take up to 2 hours to be able to access your class.

Canvas username and password:

Your Canvas username is your RCCD student email address.
Your Canvas password is “newstudent” (all lowercase, no quotes).
Examples for an RCCD student email address with the name of John Doe might be:
jdoe@student.rccd.edu

jdoe2@student.rccd.edu

jdoe16@student.rccd.edu

It is recommended you verify what your RCCD student email address is.
Please check in WebAdvisor if you are not sure of your RCCD student email address.

Upon login, please be sure to change your password! Learn how to change your password.

To login to Canvas:

• First, be sure to review the Canvas Information page. The login link is available at the Distance Ed website.
• On the login page, enter your RCCD email address as your username in the “Email” field.
• Enter newstudent in the password field and click the “Log In” button.
• You can also access from the Canvas Information page.
