d! (t) = 5.6 sin (0.5236 (t − 2.5)) + 14.9 where d! is the depth of the water in meters, and t! is the number of

hours after midnight.

a. Write down the period of the function.
b. Estimate the depth of the water at midnight.
c. Estimate the depth of the water at 2:00 pm.
d. Determine the time when the water first reach its highest depth.
e. Write down the function !d (t) in terms of cosine.

7. A Ferris wheel at an amusement park reaches a maximum height of 46 meters and a minimum height of 1
meter. It takes 20 minutes for the wheel to make one full rotation.
a. If a child gets on the Ferris wheel when !t = 0, determine how high will he after riding for 10 minutes.
b. Write a sine function to model the height of the child !t minutes after boarding the Ferris wheel.
c. Calculate the height of the child if he has been riding for 3 minutes.
