Specific Objectives: Show the students how to add to slides, to add a theme for the

slides, to change the font style and size, and how to add pictures to a slide.

Required Materials:

PowerPoint

Internet

Computer/laptop

(History handout for activity)

Anticipatory Set (Lead-In):  all students will log in to the school computer and open up

MS PowerPoint presentation.

Step-By-Step Procedures:

 All students will open MS PowerPoint.

 They will select "blank presentation" and click the "create" button.

 The first slide will be the title page.

 You can select the boxes to enter in the information.

 Next, we will learn to add a theme to the slides. By selecting the "design" tab on

the toolbar, you can choose a "theme" for all your slides.

 After you select your theme, it will be the same for all the slides you create, or

you can change it to a selected slide.

 Next, we will add a new slide so we can add content for the presentation.

 Select the "home" tab to bring up the "New slide" button.

 Click in the "arrow" next to the button to select the layout you want for the new

slide.

 Click the layout option labeled "title and content."

 Once the slide is created, you may add the text in the boxes. In the toolbox in the

"Home" tab, you can also edit the font style and size.

 We will also learn how to add a picture to our slide.

 To do this, we will select the "insert" tab and click on the "pictures" button.

 This will bring a drop-down box with different options to add a picture. We will be

selecting the "online picture" button.

 A box will populate on the right side of your slide. Here you can enter the image

you would like to find online.

 Once you find the picture, you like to select the image and hit "insert."

 The picture will populate on your slide, drag, drop, and resize to the desired size.

Plan For Independent Practice: Each student will use PowerPoint to get familiar with

the slides by adding text and pictures. They will work in groups and make a history

report on Women in history using PowerPoint presentation.

Closure (Reflect Anticipatory Set): Discuss what was learned during the lesson on

PowerPoint. Any questions? The students' instructions will be to work on the report for

the rest of the week with their group and individually.

Assessment Based On Objectives: Assess how the student demonstrates an

understanding of making a PowerPoint presentation. The student will be creating new

slides and adding content to the slides.

Possible Connections to Other Subjects: Once they are familiar with PowerPoint,

they can use it to make reports for any subject in class.

Modifications: Special needs students may be given extended time for report. The

student can also work with special needs teachers or teacher’s aid to assist in making

slides on powerpoint
