Company Profile - Medco
Its beginning in 1980 as the first Indonesian drilling services
company, MedcoEnergi has evolved into a leading energy and natural
resources company listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange with
three key business segments: Oil & Gas, Power, and Copper Mining.

MedcoEnergi aims to generate sustainable, positive impacts for their


stakeholders. They conduct our business with integrity and
transparency to safeguard our social license to operate. They also
strive to protect the health and safety of their people, reduce our
environmental impact and support the communities in which they
operate. Their approach to sustainability is guided by our
Sustainability Policy, which consists of three principles or pillars of
Sustainability and are supported by a strong foundation in good
corporate governance. They are “Leadership of and by Our
Employees”, “Environment and Social Development”, “Local
Community Empowerment”

- Policies and Program: Extent of development of significant
infrastructure investments and services, such as road and
bridge rehabilitation, public facilities construction or
renovation, etc.

How would SR improve or restructure the decision-making
process so that consideration of socio-economic and
environmental issues is fully integrated and a broader
range of public participation assured?

With the existence of several Medco programs and policies in the GRI
standard SR (203-1 and 413), the company will know the relationship
between socio economic issues and environmental issues on community
participation.

in West Sumbawa by PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (AMNT)
focusing on agribusiness, small and medium enterprises development,
and revitalization of tourism destination sites.

Strategic Management
How would companies see SR as an added value to
building their sustainability plans that can bring together
all their current corporate social responsibility,
sustainability and environmentally-friendly initiatives?

SR can be an added value for making sustainability plans for the next period
of performance evaluation in several fields, some of which are CSR and
environmentally-friendly initiatives. The SR at Medco shows good
performance in this field and is in accordance with GRI 431 so that it has the
potential for improvement in Sustainability projects in the next period

01 Social & Environmental
- Policies and Program: Social impact assessments, including gender
impact assessments, based on participatory processes; Environmental
impact assessments and ongoing monitoring. The program is school-
based environment monitoring and so on. (GRI indicator: GRI 413-1,
Local Communities)
- Safeguarding the environment, Medco concerns in their operation
that result emission such as GHG, NOx, SOx, and particulate matter by
doing environmental monitoring in their area (GRI indicator: GRI 305,
Emissions)

How would SR contribute to the aspect of Social &
Environmental, mainstreaming values and actions in
maximizing overall social, environmental, and ethical
impact?

By considering the social and environmental aspects of Medco's sustainability


report, several social and environmental programs that will be planned for
next year have the potential to be improved, either increasing values or
actions to have a positive impact on both the environment and the
surrounding community.
