Knowledge
- K1: mastering mathematical theoretical concepts including mathematical logic, discrete mathematics, algebra, analysis and geometry,
as well as probability theory and statistics;
Course learning outcome (CLO) CLO 1. Understanding deeply the basic concepts of algebra reagrding vector, vector space, inner product spaces, diagonalization, and
linear transformation correctly.
CLO 2. Understanding deeply the algebraic properties of vector, vector space, inner product spaces, diagonalization, and linear
transformation correctly.
CLO 3. Applying the concepts and properties related to algebra regarding vector, vector space, inner product spaces, diagonalization, and
linear transformation in solving problems accurately, critically, correctly, and systematically.
Course Description This course explores material covering vectors in R2 and R3, vector space, bases and dimensions, rank and nullity, inner product space,
orthogonal bases and orthonormal bases, the Gram-Schmidt process, coordinate and change of basis, characteristic/eigen values and
characteristic/eigen vectors, diagonalization, linear transformation and their properties, and similarity. The prerequisite for this course is
Matrix Algebra.
These topics are taught with an exploratory approach that utilizes the student's socio-cultural environment prioritizing team-based
projects and case studies so that students are able to master the materials deeply.
