Baby Elephant Crochet Pattern

Materials
✓ Bulky yarn:
• Gray: Glacier – Liberty Chunky – Fair Isle
• White: Cloud – Liberty Chunky – Fair Isle
✓ Crochet hook: D/3 - 3.25 mm*
✓ Polyester fiberfill stuffing
✓ 2 black 10 mm** buttons

✓ Sewing needle and gray sewing thread

✓ Tapestry needle
✓ Stitch marker
✓ Scissors

✓ Pins (optional)
* Recommended size of hook. You might need to match the size of the hook
according to your tension.
** You might need bigger or smaller buttons depending on the type of yarn
and crochet hook size you use.

Gauge
Gauge is not critical but it’s important that stitches are close together and a
bit tight (but not too much) so stuffing is not visible.

Finished Size
This baby elephant is approximately 5 ¼” tall. Your finished amigurumi might
turn out bigger or smaller than this depending on the type of yarn and size of
crochet hook you use.

Recommendations
Use a stitch marker at the beginning of each round.
Read the pattern from beginning to end before you start crocheting.

ease your work.

ASSEMBLY
Sew the legs onto the body. I
recommend using pins to secure
the legs in place while sewing
them.
Place and sew the trunk and ears
onto the head. I recommend using
pins for this step too. Figures 5 and
6.
Optional: because of its shape, the
trunk will face down, you can bend
the trunk up and sew it onto the
face. Figure 7.
Sew the pacifier under the
elephant’s trunk. First sew on the
circle, then fold the chain in half
and attach it onto the center of
the magic ring. Figure 8.
TRUNK
Attach one or two pieces of yarn
onto the top of head to imitate the
elephant’s hair. Pull each strand
through the magic ring (Figure 9)
and then tie a knot.
With a sewing needle and gray
thread, sew one black button onto
each side of the elephant’s trunk.

To add a tail, simply pull a loop
through the back bottom of the
body and chain of 6 or 7 chain
stitches. Figure 11.
