It is an open fact that technological progress is going on with at a rapid pace.

The basic purpose

of modern technologies is announced to make people’s lives easier and to help them to cope with
some current issues faster and more effectively. However, there is a point of view that many
people are too addicted to modern electronic devices and gadgets. The latter is related to the
youth to a greater extent.

It is generally accepted that everything has different sides of the same coin. There is a grain of
truth. Initially, information technologies are suggested to provide only an assistance in the
learning process. On the contrary, the minors are used to relying on gadgets too much when it
comes to learning. They are sure that there is no point in thinking when it is much quicker to find
some information on the Internet. It can’t help affecting their daily life. Such people can not
solve problems and deal with challenges by themselves. If they can not find a quick solution,
they start panicking. As a consequence, it does a great harm to their psychological health and
ability to live in different circumstances. (try to avoid repetition)

It should be mentioned that the unstoppable desire to use modern technologies has its harmful
influence not only on studying, but also on leisure time. Face-to-face communication is being
replaced by texting and messaging. People forget how to make friends and collaborate in a team.
The concept of friendship is giving a way to social connectivity. In social networks, there are a
hundred of even more so-called friends. But at the same time, people more and more feel
loneliness, because socialization plays an essential part in our life and can not be replaced by
electronic devices.

In conclusion, it is worth mentioning that modern technologies are both a curse and a blessing
for humanity. They are widely spread and affect people’s lives more than the majority thinks.
Technological progress can not be stopped. But I strongly believe that we should remember the
original purpose of these devices – just to help people, not to live instead of them.

Technologies play an important role in people’s daily and working life, as well as occupy all the
spheres of human activities. We can hardly imagine our modern world without different devices
and machines. They make out our lives easier and faster at the same time. On the one hand, it
opens new opportunities, on the other – has its drawbacks.

Taking into consideration working life I should say that technological progress has
fundamentally changed it. Hard physical labour was replaces replaced by machine one due to the
Industrial Revolution. People could produce more goods and provide themselves with everything
they needed in a shorter period of time. Fast means of transport allowed people to cover long
distances. So those who lived in the countryside got the opportunity to commute to work in the
nearest city. But it couldn’t help influencing people’s relationships. The earlier working
experience was handed down from father to son, the specific knowledge of experienced workers
were was distributed among newcomers. Now people are used to working more with machines
than with people and hardly share their experience.

Health care is another area, the existence of which is impossible without technologies.
Previously, people did not have medicines and modern equipment in hospitals. Many of them
died of incurable illnesses or stayed sick for a long time. Nowadays there are few untreatable
diseases and recovery takes a couple of days as a rule. Besides, it has become possible to carry
out the most complex operations. All this taken together has increased life expectancy. However,
in the past people took care of their relatives, were nearby (stayed closed), read books, and talked
to them (might be a bit confusing: stayed in touch with their close one, were communicating with
them more often etc..) These days the situation is just the opposite.1

To sum up, I am absolutely sure that technologies have a long list of advantages. They continue
making our lives better and allow us to save time for more important tasks. But at the same time,
they have negatively affected a small but essential part of people’s lives – attention and care for
others.

These sentences seem to be out of touch with the general meaning of the paragraph. If you wanted to
make a counterargument when you should’ve stated it in the beginning, so that the rest of the
paragraph would be devoted to arguments against the claim that nowadays people are less likely to
spend their time relatives…
