Project Title FMP
Section 1: Review (Approx 100 words)
In the past year, we have been doing many projects to help us learn about photography and help us in our FMP. The projects we have done are; face the place, freezing a moment in time, after dark, deadpan, dark room work, climate change, photostory, moving music image. My favourite project that we have done is freezing a moment in time. This is because I could use all of the skills I had learnt about the camera and put it into my own piece of work. My least favourite project was face the place. This was because I thought that the photos that I was producing were too forced and staged. I could have worked on this but it wasn’t my favourite one to do. Section 2: Project Concept (approx 200 words) For my fmp I have chosen the theme natural form. I picked this theme because I like to photograph nature in its natural look and the beauty of it. Out of all of the projects before my favourite has been the ‘in the dark’ photoshoot. I wanted to take some photos that linked to the dark as people view nature and anything in general different depending on whether it is night and day. The night can be mysterious and can often give off a strange feeling. In the dark, your vision is impaired and it can often lead you to imagine things that could be around. Rabbit holes are very mysterious and are often related to the dark. A book related to rabbit holes and the mystery in the darkness is the ‘Weird and Eerie’ by Mark Fisher. In this book he writes about portals, doors and entrances. All of these relate back to the mystery and not knowing what’s around you all of the time. Two photographers that focus on taking images in the night, adding a mysterious vibe to them, are; Elena Helfrecht and Teri Varhol. I want to focus my project on the mystery and the curiosity that not only I have, but many other people have on certain passages and rabbit holes. Section 3: Evaluation (approx 50 words) The first thing I will do when evaluating my work will be to look over the images I have taken and make sure that they all link up to what I am focusing on and that they have a meaning to them without being uninteresting. I will also get opinions from my friends and family and ask them what they think about my images and how I can improve on them.
