CE 201 MATRIX THEORY OF STRUCTURES

POROJECT for completion of 2nd Sem AY 2019-20 (TZZQ)

Directions:
1. You are required to work and submit this project individually.
2. Use the formulas indicated below to determine the dimensions and live loads of the three
dimensional frame structure. Note that two (2) of the foundations are idealized as pinned-
supports while the other four (4) are fixed-supports.
3. Determine all the node displacements and support reactions for the frame structure by using
a) manual calculations (Excel worksheet) and b) any commercial software (ex. STAAD, ETABS,
SAP). Summarize, tabulate and compare the two sets of results. Submit the electronic files for
the Calculations (worksheet & software file) and a Report (maximum of 15 pages) with the
following items: I. Structure - FBD of the frame structure (with values) and global numbering;
II Methodology - procedure in both methods; III Results and Discussion; and IV Conclusion. If
the results in Part III are different, explain why the two methods gave different results.
4. Submit your project through email to omantonio@up.edu.ph with a subject heading
CE 201 PROJECT.
5. Students must notify via text message the teacher upon submission and ensure to get
acknowledgment of receipt within 24 hours of notification.
