Invitation letter

A. Definition of Invitation Letter

It is a letter written to invite people to a particular event. This can be written for a marriage,
engagement, graduation ceremony, exhibition, annual day, etc. It can be a formal as well as
an informal letter. It can be written by an individual or an organization addressed to a person
or an organization. The objective of this letter is to arrange the number of positions for the
guests before some days of the event date. An invitation Letter enables the host to achieve

B. Invitation Letter Writing Tips

 It must include the address, date, and time of the event on the left side of the letter.
 Make sure to mention the salutation at the beginning and your signature at the
ending of the letter.
 Make sure to write a grammatically correct and concise letter.
 It should indicate whether it is a formal or informal letter.

1. Title The title of the letter must include the sender's name and address, as well as the date
the letter was written

2. Greetings Greetings should address the recipient by name, or by using a formal title, such
as "Dear Mr." or "Dear Madame."

3. Introduction The introduction should provide a brief explanation of the purpose of the
letter and state the event being held

4. Fill in the letter The body of the letter must provide further details about the event,
including date, time, location, purpose, and any special instructions or requirements

5. RSVP The RSVP section should include information about how the recipient can respond,
such as by email or telephone, and a deadline for responding

6. Cover Section

The closing part in the Invitation letter must be polite and professional, such as 'Sincerely' or
'Greetings'.

7. Sign / Signature
The signature must be handwritten, or typed with a signature font, and must include the
sender's full name.

D. Types of Invitation Letter

1. Formal Business Invitation Letter


This type of invitation letter is often used for formal purposes. For example business and
work matters, conferences, seminars, and also other professional events.

2. Wedding Invitation Letter

This invitation is one of the most common. Namely to invite relatives and friends to attend a
wedding reception.

3. Birthday Party Invitation Letter

This invitation letter can be formal or more casual, namely to invite friends or acquaintances
to attend birthday events.

4. Dinner Party Invitation Letter

This invitation is usually given to invite at dinner both at home and elsewhere. It could be to
attend formal events, or events for socializing guys!

5. Invitation Letter for Visa

For this one, the form of the invitation letter- is in the form of a formal letter. Sent to the
embassy to make a visa application to visit a particular country.

6. Formal Event Invitation Letter

This type of invitation letter is commonly used to invite guests to attend a formal event. For
example, an inauguration event, charity party, or cultural event involving important people.

7. Informal Invitation Letter

This invitation letter is used to invite friends, family, or acquaintances to attend private
events, such as picnics, neighborhood parties, or casual get-togethers.

details, such as what to wear or what to bring.

or activities related to business. In this case, the letter must be written with company
letterhead and must include the company logo and contact information.

The tone of the letter should be polite, professional and respectful, with the aim of making the
