environment. It could be related to some advertisements also. Basically, it is a


piece of art that catches the maximum attention of the viewers because of its
messages.

Tips for Attempting the Question on Poster Making


A poster is a powerful piece of writing that speaks to viewers more than words.
It comprises of both pictorial representation of the topic as well as written
content on the topic. It is prepared keeping in mind the target audience.
Following are the types of posters:

 Invitations like posters for carnivals, fests, exhibitions etc

 Workshops or Seminars

Format of Poster Writing


 Issuing Authority: Here you have to write the name of the organising body of
the particular event.
 Title: This is the point where you can make the deal. Make a catchy title
which is basically the gist of your announcement or issue.
 A sketch: After the title, you have a draw a picture depicting your issue. For
instance; 4 ways to save water.
 Date, Time and Venue: Here you have to mention the date and time of the
event which has to take place. Do not forget to mention the venue of the
event.
 Contact Information: This is an important part of your poster. Remember to
add the details of the concerned authorities as the people reading the poster
must have contact numbers of the event co-ordinator in case any query
arises on the day of the event.

Some Do’s and Don’ts of Poster Making


Do’s
 Your poster must not exceed the word limit of 50 words.

 The poster should be in a box.


 Make the content inside the poster to the point and crisp.
 Make sure your answer to a poster must fit in one page only. It should not be
continued to the next page.
 Also, bold or underline the important information inside the poster.
Don’ts
 Keep the word limit within the prescribed word limit only.

 Do not use complex language.


 Do not use the short form of the words.
 Make sure your poster is in the proper structure / format.

Formal Invitations Structure and Format


Structure of Formal Invitation
If we specifically talk about the Formal Invitations then they are generally a type
of invitation cards. These cards are used to invite people on weddings,
birthdays, inaugurations etc. Invitation comprises of the details such as who,
when, whom, where, time and the reason of invitation. Other details that formal
invitations carries is, name of the organiser, address etc. In case of official
invitation, it also has name of the chief guest, special invitees etc.

Length of Formal Invitation should not exceed more than 50 words, as per the
guidelines of CBSE.

Informal Invitations Structure and Format
Structure of Informal Invitation
As the name indicates, these are informal invitations that a person generally
send to their family or friends or relatives. Tone of the informal invitation remains
informal and relaxed, emotions and personal feelings is the essence of informal
invitation. The address of the writer is written at the same place, where it is
written in formal invitation. “Dear” is used in salutation, accompanied with the
name of the writer. Date is written but without year. The invitation ends with
“Yours Sincerely” or Yours Truly”.

Formal Replies
A formal reply is usually very short. It is brief and to the point. The quality of a
good reply is that it must always be pleasant. Even while declining the invitation
or expressing inability to attend one must be polite and courteous. Formal
replies demand a formal tone and treatment. There is no room for unnecessary
details or superfluous matter in them.

Main characteristics:
 Acknowledge the invitation.
 Express thanks in third person.
 Mention acceptance/regret.
 Specify the reason for refusal.
 Be brief and specific.
 Be formal in tone and treatment.
 Do not exceed the word limit (usually 50 words).
Informal Replies
An informal reply or private letter may, however, express personal feelings or
desires in an intimate style and informal tone.

Main characteristics:
 Acknowledge the invitation in first person.
 Use second person for the sender of invitation.
 Mention acceptance/regret.
 Specify the reason in case of refusal.
 Use warm and simple language.
 Do not exceed the word limit (usually 50 words).
