BK1: Write a Reflective Blog on a takeaway in one of your enrolled courses

I am currently enrolled in Far Eastern University-Makati taking BS in Accountancy. One

of the enrolled courses I have was Leadership, this particular course talks about the specifics of
being a leader, follower, and their interactions. I am pursuing Accountancy, but I also wanted to
be an effective leader or follower someday that is why I chose Leadership in this activity.

As a freshman student at Far Eastern University, studying Leadership is a great

opportunity not just for me, but for all the students. Leadership does not only mean being a good
leader, but it helps to deeply understand the value of being a leader, follower, and their
relationship together. As a student, we tend to have group works that must be done, leadership
helps to assess our personality in interacting and communicating our ideas with other students.
Since there is an interaction involved, it would also help to understand deeper those people
around us. It builds trusting relationships that can help strengthen the bonds we have with our
classmates. With my experience, studying leadership helped me in gaining much confidence.
Being able to study leadership helped me in communicating well with my classmates during
group activities. This can also help students to improve their skills. We just need to focus on
identifying our areas of development for us to maximize the things we need to improve. Also,
the relationship we have with our teachers is a great example, they lead us to learn things from
school. This is helpful in a way that there is an exchange of ideas that both students and teachers
could learn from.

As a future professional, We know that knowledge acquired about leadership can be

applied in every aspect. For now, we are all followers and self-leaders who aspire to be a future
leader. Someday when we work, whatever position we are in, we need to do what a good leader
and follower would do. We need to create a foundation to be able to lead and follow people
effectively. Having an efficient work environment helps in stable growth. Therefore, human
relations should be kept in mind, we must be able to have proper personal contacts with people
around us. We need to empower ourselves in building a foundation because we hold ourselves
onto the leadership standard. In the meantime, we must value the importance of personal power
so we can build it up, for us to be an effective leader when our time comes.
 As a Filipino citizen living in a democratic country, we need to be an effective follower.
We need to be able to contribute to the growth of our country. Being a follower in our country
we need to be able to educate ourselves about the law in our country. By being familiar with the
laws of the country we live in, we will act lawfully at all times. Besides, being part of the
country, we need to be able to serve as an inspiration and drive people to accomplish the things
set by our goals. Maybe someday we can be a great leader as well. We just need to remember
that being the leader, we play a crucial role in the development of our followers and in achieving
organizational goals. We just need to educate ourselves and build a foundation in being a good
and effective leader someday.

Studying leadership helped me in improving my skills in many aspects. It helped me to

be organized with my thoughts, have good communication, and build stronger bonds with my
classmates whenever we are doing group activities. I know my knowledge in leadership can help
me when I work someday, whether I am a leader or follower.
