Teacher Students
A. Preparation
Review
Let’s have some simple recall on the
proper way of measuring and mixing
ingredients. How is the proper way of
measuring dry ingredients like flour? Place the measuring cup in the table
while holding it and scoop flour in the
measuring cup and label it with spatula.
How about in measuring liquid
ingredients like milk? Place the measuring cup in the flat
surface and pour the milk inside the
measuring cup and to check the measure
bend down to see.
How about in mixing the dry and wet
ingredients? Pour gradually the mix dry ingredients
into the mix wet ingredients while
continuously stirring until the
ingredients are well-blended.
Don’t forget those proper ways in
measuring and mixing ingredients.

Motivation
I have something here class. What am I
holding? Cookies
Have you tasted any cookies? Yes
So, what is the taste? Sweet and delicious
Do you want to know how to make a
cookies? Yes
I will show you how to make a cookies
afterwards.

B. Presentation
Today, we will be baking a pinwheel
cookies but before we proceed, let’s
have a short discussion about cookies.
Who among you knows what a cookie
is? Cookie is a baked good that is sweet.
Cookies are typically round, flat and
crisp.
In addition to what you have said class,
the word cookie refers to small cakes
derived from the Dutch word koekje or
koekie. Cookies contain many of the
same ingredients as cakes except that
they have a lower proportion of liquid
with a higher proportion of sugar and fat
to flour. Understand? Yes
Let’s identify the ingredients needed in
baking a pinwheel cookies. Would you
mind to read the names of the
ingredients that will be flash in front? Flour
Baking powder
Baking soda
Salt
Butter
Brown sugar
White sugar
Eggs
Vanilla extract
Red food coloring
Green food coloring

C. Demonstration
Now, I’ll show you how to bake a
pinwheel cookies. But first, we need to
measure all the ingredients needed. And
you will be the one to measure the
ingredients since you have already know
the proper way of measuring. Who will
start?
Ingredients:
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/3 cups butter
2/3 cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
1 drop red food coloring, or as needed
1 drop green food coloring, or as needed
We have already done in measuring the
ingredients needed. I will now show you
the proper way of baking a pinwheel
cookies. You will be reading each step
that is being flashed in front and after
reading each step, I will show you how
to do it. Let’s start.
Procedure:
1. Sift flour, baking powder, baking
soda, and salt together into a bowl.
Resift again into another bowl.
2. Beat the butter with the brown and
white sugars in a mixing bowl until light
and fluffy. Beat in the eggs and vanilla
until smooth. Gradually stir in the flour
mixture until evenly blended.
3. Gather the dough into a ball and
divide into two equal parts. Add red food
coloring to the dough in one bowl, and
spoon to blend the food coloring into the
green food coloring to the dough in the
other bowl. Use a fork or a wooden
spoon to blend the food coloring into the
dough until evenly blended. Add
additional drops of food coloring to
make the desired shade.
4. Roll out the red dough to ¼ inch
(5mm) thickness. Roll out the green
dough to ¼ inch (5mm) thickness, and
place on top of the red dough. Beginning
on one edge, roll the doughs to make a
log so two colors spiral inside each
other. Wrap the log in waxed paper, then
in a cotton towel, and refrigerate at least
8 hours.
5. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200
degrees C). Lightly grease 2 baking
sheets.
6. Unwrap the dough log, and place on a
clean, lightly floured surface. Slice the
log into rounds 1/8 inch (3mm) thick,
and place on prepared baking sheets.
7. Bake in preheated oven until set, 5 to
6 minutes. Watch carefully to prevent
edges from browning. Remove from
oven, and cool on racks.

And we are done. Do you have any

question or any clarification class? None

D. Re-demonstration
Now, it’s your turn to re-demonstrate
what I have shown you. Let’s have
volunteers to do each steps again.
Who would like to start? Before anything else, measure first the
ingredients needed. 4 cups all-purpose
flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, ¼
teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon salt,
11/3 cups butter, 1 cup packed brown
sugar, 2/3 cup white sugar, 2 eggs,
beaten, 1 ½ teaspoon vanilla extract, 1
drop red food coloring, or as needed, 1
drop green food coloring, or as needed.
How about the succeeding step? The first step is to sift flour, baking
powder, baking soda, and salt together
into a bowl. Resift again into another
bowl.
The second step is beat the butter with
the brown and white sugars in a mixing
bowl until light and fluffy. Beat in the
eggs and vanilla until smooth. Gradually
stir in the flour mixture until evenly
blended.
Third is gather the dough into a ball and
divide into two equal parts. Add red food
coloring to the dough in one bowl, and
green food coloring to the dough in the
other bowl. Use a fork or a wooden
spoon to blend the food coloring into the
dough until evenly blended. Add
additional drops of food coloring to
make the desired shade.
Fourth step is roll out the red dough to ¼
inch (5mm) thickness. Roll out the green
dough to ¼ inch (5mm) thickness, and
place on top of the red dough. Beginning
on one edge, roll the doughs to make a
log so two colors spiral inside each
other. Wrap the log in waxed paper, then
in a cotton towel, and refrigerate at least
8 hours.
The fifth is preheat oven to 400 degrees
F (200 degrees C). Lightly grease 2
baking sheets.
Sixth step is unwrap the dough log, and
place on a clean, lightly floured surface.
Slice the log into rounds 1/8 inch (3mm)
thick, and place on prepared baking
sheets.
And the last step is to bake in preheated
oven until set, 5 to 6 minutes. Watch
carefully to prevent edges from
browning. Remove from oven, and cool
on racks.
E. Generalization
After doing this activity we made, what
have you learned today? I have learned the proper way of baking
a pinwheel cookies.
I have learned that pinwheel cookies
composes of flour, baking powder,
baking soda, salt, butter, brown sugar,
white sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, red

Do you believe class that our life is just

like in baking a cookies? Yes
Then why do you say so?
In order for us to have a good cookies,
we need to follow each step properly and
we should not skip one step. Just like in
our life, in order for us to achieve our
sweetest desire, there is a stepping stone
that we need to finish first before
proceeding to the next step.

Yes and in the real world there’s no

shortcut or elevator to success. There’s
an instances that we failed sometimes
but that’s not the reason for us to stop.

IV. Evaluation
Now, choose your partner to work on
and prepare all your materials and
ingredients that I told you to bring.
I have here a copy of the ingredients and
procedure of the pinwheel cookies and
also the rubrics. Come and get one copy
by partner.
Before you start baking, I will discuss to
you the rubrics on how to evaluate your
work. Look at the rubrics I have given
you.
V. Assignment/Agreement
For your assignment next meeting, think
of a recipe or a new flavor of a cookies
that is not yet here in Ilocos Norte that
serves as your signature cookies.
