I. PROPOSED TOPIC:

An order providing for the guidelines in the implementation of the league of

Municipalities Resolution no. 07, series of 2020 “Adopting the outcome agreements of
the 21st provincial Inter-agency task force (PIATF) ONE DINAGAT SHEILD,
particularly the strict implementation of stay at home policy and other quarantine
protocols through out the province of Dinagat Islands”.

II. TITLE:

Impact assessment of Covid-19 pandemic in Ecotourism in the Province of

Dinagat Islands.

III. ABSTRACT:
Dinagat Islands is an island located at northeast of Mindanao in the Philippines

The Dinagat Islands (Cebuano: Mga Pulo sa Dinagat; Surigaonon: Mga Puyo nan Dinagat; Waray: Mga Purô han Dinagat; Filipino: Mga Isla ng
Dinagat) are a group of islands constituting a province in the Caraga region in the Philippines, located on the south side of Leyte Gulf. The island
of Leyte is to its west, across Surigao Strait, and Mindanao is to its south. Its main island, Dinagat, is about 60 kilometres (37 mi) from north to
south. Declared a province in 2006, the Dinagat Islands comprise the second newest province of the Philippines, with Davao Occidental (2013)
being the newest.General Luna, Surigao del Norte is one of the known tourist destinations in the Philippines. It is a municipality located in the
famous island of Siargao and ecotourism is the main driver of its economy. This study is generally aimed at analyzing public policies in relation to
the impact of the influx of tourists (1) on the conservation of ecotourism sites, (2) on the socio-economic situation, and (3) on the culture of local
communities in General Luna. A qualitative approach is used in this study while the research design is descriptive, particularly descriptive-survey
and descriptive evaluative. This is to demonstrate the present conditions and situations in the municipality and to assess the implementation of laws
and programs on ecotourism. Furthermore, the researchers uses the method of purposive sampling in selecting the respondents during data
collection. This research also utilizes primary sources like Comprehensive Land Use Plans or Development Plans, laws, projects and programs that
are related to the protection of the environment and the promotion of tourism in the municipality. The sustainability of the municipality is assessed
through three aspects: environmental protection, social efficacy, and economic development. An analysis of the interviews conducted and the
primary sources suggest that the local government of General Luna is inefficient in properly implementing laws, projects, and programs on
ecotourism. If the status quo persists, with the increasing influx of tourists, the realization of a sustainable economic development in General Luna
will remain elusive. Putting its ecotourist sites at greater risks of environmental degradation which will then affect negatively the development of its
ecotourism-based economy.
