NARRATIVE REPORT OF THE ACTION RESEARCH PROPOSAL

(S.Y. 2020-2021)

Theme: Reflect, Plan, Collaborate, and Act: Essential Means in Conducting the
School-Based Action Research”
I. Purposes/ Objectives:
This activity aimed to:
 discuss the overview of the action research;
 determine the steps and parts of the action research;
 state problems in the school to be addressed through action research;
 present the title, statement of the problem, and methodology; and
 provide direction in the conduct of action research.
II. Brief Description:
The first phase was conducted last December 15, 2020 wherein the
Research Coordinators, Esther D. Vinson and Jeannet E. Canda, PhD talked
about the purpose and process of action research. It was conducted during
the conduct of Revisit of IPCRF for the Master Teachers facilitated by Math
Department.
The second phase was conducted last Jan. 14, 2021 wherein there
were five groups who presented their action researches. The groups were
consisted of Master Teachers and their co-teachers for collaboration and
mentoring purposes. It is also a way of providing technical assistance by the
Master teachers to each other and to the Teachers I to III. There were also
two sets of panel: Group A- Gelly A. Alkuino, PhD (Chairman); Angela O.
Yumang, PhD (member) ; and Noel F. Valdez (statistician-member); Group
B- Jeannet E. Canda, PhD (Chairman); Mercelisa D. Bodiongan (member);
and Adam Julian L. Che, PhD (statistician-member).

IV. Impact (Benefit/s gained and how this/these helped in the improvement of the
activity/ the school/ learning instruction.)
The activity was attended by 33 Master Teachers as recorded in the
attendance sheet for the Phase I while the Phase II was attended by 32 teachers.
It garnered an average of 4.6 described as very good which is interpreted as the
activity is highly achieved. The benefits in the activity were: the panel was
impressive, they were masters of their field, timely and helpful for teachers, and it
gives an avenue for doctoral graduate to share their expertise. Some of the
comments were: it provided teachers technical assistance and collaboration

where they can think of problems in their subject areas that need to be acted on
improve students’ learning. Things to improve are as follow: the venue to conduct
the research proposal and presentation, JHS teachers should also participate
and collaborate, the groupings in the team action research should be clarified.
