THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

INTRODUCTION

Sustainable development has become a pressing issue

globally as societies strive to balance economic growth,

environmental conservation,and social equity.The

concept of sustainable development involves meeting the

present needs without jeopardizing future generations'

ability to meet their own needs. Hence, understanding

household members' attitudes and practices towards

environmental conservation is critical in achieving

sustainable development.

This study will assess the level of environmental

awareness and practices of household members in

Barangay San Francisco in Naga City, Philippines, and

explore the implications of their attitudes and

behaviors towards sustainable development. By examining

the household level attitudes and practices, the study

will provide insights into the factors that promote or

inhibit environmentally sustainable

behavior,contributing to a deeper understanding of

sustainable development's challenges and opportunities

at the local level.

The Philippines faces significant environmental

challenges such as deforestation,pollution,and climate

change. The government has implemented policies and

programs to promote sustainable development, but there

is still a need to assess the current level of

awareness and practices in local communities such as

Barangay San Francisco. This study aims to fill this

gap and inform local policies and programs aimed at

promoting sustainable development in the community.

The findings of this study can provide valuable

insights that can serve as a model for similar

SIGNIFANCE OF THE STUDY

This study on exploring senior high school students'

knowledge and actions towards plastic waste reduction

and environmental sustainability has several

significant contributions to various beneficiaries.

The students as it provides them with valuable insights

into the importance of plastic waste reduction and

environmental sustainability. The findings of this

study can help students understand the impact of

plastic waste on the environment and the need to take

action to mitigate its effects. Additionally, this

study can help raise awareness among students about the

importance of sustainable living and encourage them to

adopt environmentally-friendly practices in their daily

lives.The teachers, particularly those involved in

environmental education. The study provides valuable

information that can be used to improve the teaching of

environmental sustainability and plastic waste

reduction. Teachers can use the findings to design more

effective teaching strategies that resonate with

students and encourage them to take action towards

environmental sustainability.

To future researchers who are interested in studying

the topic of plastic waste reduction and environmental

sustainability. The study provides a framework for

conducting further research on the subject, including

the methodologies and approaches used to collect and

analyze data. The findings of this study can also serve

as a basis for future studies that explore the

attitudes and behaviors of different age groups towards

plastic waste reduction and environmental

sustainability.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The study aims to assess the environmental awareness

and practices of household members in Barangay San
Francisco in Naga City and determine the implications
of sustainable development. Specifically, it aims to
answer the following questions:

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION OF THE STUDY

Sustainable development has become a critical issue in

modern society as it seeks to balance economic, social,
and environmental concerns for the present and future
generations. The importance of sustainable development
is further highlighted by the growing environmental
problems that threaten the health and wellbeing of
people, ecosystems, and the planet. In this study, we
aim to assess the level of environmental awareness and
practices of household members in Brgy. San Francisco
in Naga City, Philippines, and explore the implications
of sustainable development in this context.

The study on the implications of Sustainable

development in brgy. San Fancisco in Naga City aims to
assess the level of environmental awareness and
practices of household members in community . to active
these objectives,the study will employ various research
methods,including surveys,interviews,and group
discussion.And this study will take 2 months to
complete.The study will take will focus on brgy.San
francisco in naga city and the target respondents for
this study are house hold members residing in the
community.This study does do not include people whi do
not live in brgy.San francisco in naga city.
