Kerjakan soal berikut menggunakan 3 angka dibelakang koma

1. 15.00 g aluminum sulfide and 10.00 g water react until the limiting reagent is used up.
Here is the balanced equation for the reaction:

Al2S3 + 6 H2O ---> 2Al(OH)3 + 3 H2S

a. Which is the limiting reagent?

b. What is the maximum mass of H2S which can be formed from these
reagents?
c. How much excess reagent remains after the reaction is complete?

2. A reaction container holds 5.77 g of P4 and 5.77 g of O2.The following reaction

occurs: P4 + O2 ------- P4O6. (not balance)

a. What is the limiting reagent for the formation of P4O6?

b. What mass of P4O6 is produced?

c. What mass of excess reactant is left in the reaction container?

Answer :

SCIE6007 - Industrial Chemistry

1. Al2S3 + 6 H2O → 2Al(OH)3 + 3 H2S

Massa Al2S3 = 15.00 grm

Mr Al2S3 = 150.157 grm/mol
M 15
Mol Al2S3 = = =0 .1 mol
Mr 150 .157

Massa H2O = 10.00 grm

Mr H2O = 18.013 grm/mol
M 10
Mol H2O = = =0 .555 mol
Mr 18.013

Mr H2S = 34.079 grm/mol

3
Mol H2S = × 0,555=0,278 mol
6

a. Which is the limiting reagent?

Al2S3 = 0.1 mol : 1 = 0.1 mol
H2O = 0.555 mol : 6 = 0.093 mol
So, the limiting reagent is H2O

b. What is the maximum mass of H2S which can be formed from these
reagents?
Massa H2S = Mol x Mr = 0.278 x 34.079 grm/mol = 9.474 grm

c. How much excess reagent remains after the reaction is complete?

1
Mol Al2S3 reacted = × 0,555=0 , 093 mol
6
Massa Al2S3 reacted = Mol x Mr = 0.093 x 150.157 = 13.965 grm
So, the excess reagent is 15.00 grm – 13.965 grm = 1.035 grm of Al2S3

2. P4 + 3 O2 → P4O6

Massa P4 = 5.77 grm

SCIE6007 - Industrial Chemistry

Mr P4 = 123.904 grm /mol
M 5.77
Mol P4 = = =0 .047 mol
Mr 1 23.904

Massa O2 = 5.77 grm

Mr O2 = 31.998 grm/mol
M 5.77
Mol O2 = = =0 .18 mol
Mr 31.998

Mr P4O6 = 219.898 grm/mol

1
Mol P4O6 = x 0.047=0 . 047 mol
1

a. What is the limiting reagent for the formation of P4O6?

P4 = 0.047 mol : 1 = 0.047 mol
O2 = 0.18 mol : 3 = 0.06 mol
So, the limiting reagent is P4
b. What mass of P4O6 is produced?
Massa P4O6 = Mol x Mr = 0.047 x 219.898 = 10.335 grm

c. What mass of excess reactant is left in the reaction container?

Mol O2 reacted = 3 x 0.047 = 0.141 mol
Massa O2 reactaed = Mol x Mr = 0.141 x 31.998 = 4.512 grm
So, the excess reagent is 5.77 grm – 4.512 grm = 1.258 grm
