SECOND QUARTER

Competency : Performs selections of Afro- Latin American and Popular Music in appropriate pitch, rhythm, style, and
expression.
Objective : Create a simple performance, using music examples and /or accompanied by localized instruments in
appropriate pitch, rhythm, style and expression.
Topic : Performance of style Popular Music.
Materials : Recorded videos/audio of music examples, android phones, recording devices

Remember:
Popular Music- generally consisted of music for entertainment of large numbers of people, whether on radio, or in
live performance. From standard songs and ballads to the rock and roll craze, alternative music and disco modes,
popular music is now shared by the entire world.
1. Make an improvised African or Latin-American instruments using dried vegetables, scraps of leather, bamboo,
wood, strips of roofing materials, tin cans, pebbles, and bottles. (Or use the localized instrument you had created in
Activity 6)
2. Create a rhythmic /harmonic accompaniment for any Original Pilipino Music (OPM) song you know, using the
localized/ improvised African or Latin-American instruments you have made.
3. Describe your experience in making improvised African or Latin American musical instruments from materials
found in the environment.
4. Please do a 3-minute video of your performance, singing and accompanying a popular song using your African
Latin-American localized instrument in appropriate pitch, rhythm, and expression. Or do a narrative report of the
process in doing the task.
5. You can use any of the music examples we have used in the previous activity on Popular Music or you have the
option to choose your own.

The mobile phone that you constantly hold has evolved from a mere communication tool into a creative that allows you
to generate original works of art for an entire range of purposes. These could be personal photographs and videos that you
can manipulate with my rid special effects.
Following images manipulation programs and applications that run on today android devices:
• Pixlr – powerful free online image editor.
• Pic Collage – allows you to make collages incorporating photos, stickers, txt and frames.
• Photo Grid – a downloadable application for android phones that allows you to make collages out og images from
your photo gallery.
• Doodle Booth – an iPad application that enables you to doodle on your images using available stickers.
• Photo booth – an application for taking photos and videos using an iPad mini.
• Magic Mirror booth – an iphone application that allows you to take amusing distorted images simulating camera
effects.
• Pic Monkey – a free online photo editing tool that provides filters, frames txt and effects to manipulate your images.
• Flipagram – a downloadable application that allows you to bring your photos to life, in short videos set to music of
your choice.
• Picsart – a free photo editor and drawing application as well as social network for you to share your art with others.
• Snapseed – a photo application that enables you to enhance transform and share photo.
• Instagram – fast and fun way to share images with others snap a photo choose, available filters and share ViA
FACEBOOK, TWITTER, TUMBLR and more.

Concept Notes:
• Intensity – the rate at which the activity is performed. It can be thought of "how hard a person works to do the
activity".
• Moderate-Intensity Physical Activity – requires a moderate amount of effort and noticeably accelerates the
heart rate.
• Vigorous-Intensity Physical Activity – requires a large amount of effort and causes rapid breathing and a
substantial increase in heart rate.
