Experiment No.: 03

Name of the Experiment: To study the simulation of half wave controlled

rectifier with R & RL-load using PSIM.

Theory:
SCR (silicon-controlled rectifier):

Modes of operation:
• Forward blocking mode (off state)
• Forward conduction mode (on state)
• Reverse blocking mode (off state)

Applications:
• Use in medium- to high-voltage AC power control applications,
such as lamp dimming, power regulators and motor control.
• High-voltage dc power transmission
• Welding machines For R load, the average output voltage can be
found from, V dc (av) = (Vm/π) [1+cosα]

Conclusion:
We learn from this experiment about how to design and simulate of half wave
controlled rectifier with R & RL-load using PSIM.
