Is technology boon or bane to education?

Technology evolves over time and today and it has been improved and updated
on a very vast and wide scale. We keep on moving forward to a pace where most of
the physical things get done by the technology. The main purpose of technology from
the day it was made and invented, is to make our lives easier and more convenient. It
became an integral part of our everyday lives, especially in education. Education in
general has a gap that needs to be bridged and this disparity between what a student
has learned is defined by socioeconomic status, race/ethnicity, and gender. Technology
helps a lot in education and learning things gets easier to access and it brought multiple
resources for the educators and the students. How the students acknowledge instructions
improved when technology came. Teachers can easily share the resources online in just
one click and many students can easily browse what they need online. There are
countless reasons why technology is a key aspect of learning in the schools and we
already have seen various technological improvements and it is time that technology
changed the educational sector.

Living in a 21st century era, technology has been very helpful and became
essential to all of us and considering this as pivotal tool in the classroom is important.
Technology enhances the skills, and it extended the wide array of choices to be more
skillful by learning through what we can browse online. Students can maximize the use of
technology and it is noticeable to most of the students nowadays to use technology in
their studies and in other aspects that can help anyone expands their skills and abilities.
Technology is powerful and its advantages can be too dangerous or too good for some.
That is the reason why teachers and parents have a responsibility to ensure that the
internet becomes as safe an environment as possible by using the tools available and
supervising and educating our youth in their use of the internet. There are still things that
the students need to learn and things that needs to be avoided in using technologies for
learning and in general. The advantages that the technology offer is not harmful to
human beings until it is used properly. But misuses of technology can be harmful and
deadly like giving too much personal information online can be used by cybercriminals
to perpetrate the crimes.

There is a huge factor that technology in the Philippines can help the students and
teachers expands their capabilities and become globally competitive. It could allow
students to access various information to satisfy their hunger for learning but the lack of
support from the government and the sad reality of every students not having access to
devices like computers, laptops, smartphones and most especially internet. Teachers can
harness technology here in the Philippines by learning and studying to develop our own
model of computer-based learning that will be effective for Filipino students. Teachers
can harness technology if there are enough resources that the institutions will provide
and enough support from our government.

Technology integration in the classroom allows teachers to close the gap

between conventional teaching methods and technology-based teaching and learning
resources and facilities, thus resolving the limitations of traditional teaching methods. The
integration provides new opportunities for language educators and attain a significant
improvement inside the classroom. Technology integration can be supported by a
language development program that features navigation on computer software as a
tool information sharing; English-only and bilingual approaches to instruction and the
likes. Language can be taught in different ways and some of the things that makes
language learning easier can be found online. Technology is probably a boon especially
today that its benefits have been very vital for everyone.
