Suturas
Suturas
cardiovascular
surgery
A suture is any thread of material used to tie blood vessels or
approximate tissues.
01 SURGICAL SILK
The silk is made from silkworm, braided
multifilament, non-absorbable.
Perform peripheral vessel transfixions.
Repairs of vascular structures.
Pericardium repair.
Attach infusion cannulas.
02 POLYPROPYLENE
It has minimal tissue reaction,
monofilament, non-absorbable, has
double sutures for anastomosis of
blood vessels, intracardiac repairs,
and vascular substitutes.
03 POLYESTER
It is a braided multifilament
suture.
Fix prosthetic valves or rings in
valvular heart disease.
POLYGLYCOLIC AND
04 LACTIC ACID
Synthetic sutures, made of lactic and
glycolic acid, braided multifilament.
Pre-sternal aponeurosis tissue
approximation and TCS.
Leather closure.
Pericardium closure.
Cardiac muscle approximation in
reduction ventriculoplasty.
POLYTETRAFLUOROEETHYLENE
05 (PTFE)
It is a monofilament suture, it is
ideal for cardiovascular
anastomosis.
DACRON or PTFE graft
anastomosis and arterial or
venous structures.
In aortic surgery.
Sutures used in
cardiovascular
surgery
A suture is any thread of material used to tie blood vessels or
approximate tissues.
06 SURGICAL NEEDLES
The needles act as a guide for the thread
through the fabric. They are made of stainless
steel. They consist of three parts: tip, mandrel,
and body.
SURGICAL
07 STAINLESS STEEL
Non-absorbable suture, composed of
stainless steel (surgical wire),
multifilament, monofilament.
Suture for sternal closure.
08 PACEMAKER THREAD
Polyethylene-coated wire devices,
called temporary cardiac pacemaker
wire, are used.
It generates the electrical impulses
of the heart by connecting to the
source of the pacemaker.
09 GORE-TEX SUTURE
It is a microporous, monofilament,
nonabsorbable suture made of (ePTFE).
Low friction, smooth and flexible.
Allows superior handling.
Provide flexibility in positioning a
square knot.
10 PLEDGETS
Teflon or polytetrefluoroethylene
polymer.
Reinforcement of surgical
sutures and provide support to
the suture point.
