Answers :
1. As we know Evaluation is a procedure or method of knowing whether or not the
teaching and learning processes have been done by the teachers effectively and
properly by knowing whether the indicators, the materials, the learning strategies
and media.
2. From the information i read especially in education, the term assessment refers to
the wide variety of methods or tools that educators use to evaluate, measure, and
document the academic readiness, learning progress, skill acquisition, or
educational needs of students.
3. In general, testing is finding out how well something works. In terms of human
beings, testing tells what level of knowledge or skill has been acquired. In computer
hardware and software development, testing is used at key checkpoints in the
overall process to determine whether objectives are being met.
4. Educational measurement refers to the use of educational assessments and the
analysis of data such as scores obtained from educational assessments to infer the
abilities and proficiencies of students. The approaches overlap with those in
psychometrics. Educational measurement is the assigning of numerals to traits such
as achievement, interest, attitudes, aptitudes, intelligence and performance.
5. From the information i found, there is 4 characteristics of a good test.
1) Validity: The first important characteristic of a good test is validity. The test
must really measure what it has been designed to measure. Validity is often
assessed by exploring how the test scores correspond to some criteria, that is
same behaviour, personal accomplishment or characteristic that reflects the
attribute that the test designed to gauge.
2) Reliability: A good test should be highly reliable. This means that the test
should give similar results even though different testers administrate it,
different people scores in different forms of the test are given and the same
person takes that test at two or more different times. Reliability is usually
checked by comparing different sets of scores.
3) Objectivity: By objectivity of a measuring instrument is meant for the degree to
which equally competent users get the same results. This presupposes subjective
factor. A test is objective when it makes for the elimination of the
scorer’s personal opinion bias judgment. The recognition of the quality
objectivity in a test has been largely responsible for the development of an
aroused and objective type tests.
4) Norms: In addition to reliability and validity good test needs norms. Norms are
sets of score obtained by whom the test is intended. The scores obtained by
these groups provide a basic for interpreting any individual score.
6. Reliability and validity are concepts used to evaluate the quality of research. They
indicate how well a method, technique or test measures something. Reliability is
about the consistency of a measure, and validity is about the accuracy of a measure.
It’s important to consider reliability and validity when you are creating your
research design, planning your methods, and writing up your results, especially in
quantitative research.
7. As we know there is four types of communication skills that are taught in an
English language classroom are speaking, writing, reading and listening. These four
separate language skills are also commonly referred to as the productive and
receptive skills. Speaking and writing are known as the productive skills as they
both require some form of language output, while reading and listening are known
as the receptive skills. Alternatively, you may also find the productive skills referred
to as the active skills and the receptive skills referred to as the passive skills.
8. Competency-oriented learning evaluation that must be mastered by students. If we
look closely, the scope of Language subject matter based on Content Standards
consists of competency standards in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Therefore, the development of learning evaluation instruments is based on these
four competencies.
1) Listening Competency Standards
Listening competence in language lessons is assessed through instruments that
can measure students' ability to listen to oral speech, whether delivered through
direct speech or in recorded form. The ability that is measured includes the
ability to find something from the spoken speech that is heard.
2) Speaking Competency Standards
Speaking competence is assessed through instruments that can measure students'
ability to use language orally. The ability that you want to know from this
competency is the ability of students to express thoughts and feelings through
speaking activities. In assessing speaking skills, a teacher can determine
students' ability to use language, for example word choice (diction), effective
sentences, clear sentences, polite language, good and correct language,
straightforward language, and interviewing ethics.
3) Reading Competency Standards
Reading competence is assessed through instruments that can measure students'
ability to understand various kinds of written texts (reading) expressed through
oral or written forms. The measured abilities include the students' ability to
understand, identify, analyze, find, conclude, differentiate, and so on from the
readings that are read in the form of non-fiction and fiction texts. The measured
reading abilities are reading speed, reading silently, reading extensively, reading
intensively, and reading aloud, reading scan, reading beautifully, and so on.
4) Writing Competency Standards
Writing competence is assessed through instruments that can measure students
'ability to express thoughts and feelings in writing. In assessing writing skills, a
teacher can find out students' ability to use language, for example writing word
choices (diction), effective sentences, varied sentences, direct and non-direct
sentences. Direct, standard language, good and correct language, effective
language, language that is short, concise, clear, polite language and so on.
9. For the first we can check the validity of the test by excel app, we just need input
the data that we already get from the student. The second we can check the validity
by seeing the test, is the test comprise component of productive and receptive skill.
For example in speaking skill we should pay attention of the component of speaking
is like pronoun citation, fluency, vocabulary, etc. if the test has those component
then that suffice it to say valid.
