Worsted Weight # 4 Yarn 35 Yards
H 5.00mm crochet hook or hook needed to meet
gauge.
Tape Measure
Scissors

Button
Optional:
Wood or Faux Leather Tag

Gauge: 13 DC2TOG CL x 8 Rows 4” x 4”.

Stitches used:
Back Loop = BL
Chain = Ch
Double Crochet = DC
Double Crochet 2 Together Cluster = DC2TOG CL
Half Double Crochet = HDC
HDC Dec = Half Double Crochet Decrease
Single Crochet = SC
Slip Stitch = SL ST
Stitch/Stitches = ST/STS
Yarn Over = YO

Special Stitches:

DC2TOG CL: It is worked by *YO, inserting your hook into the designated space, YO and pull a
loop back through, YO and pull through two loops on your hook. Repeat from * 1 time in same
designated space, YO and pull through all three loops on your hook.
HDC Dec: Yarn over hook. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over hook and pull through. There should
be three loops on your hook. Yarn over hook. Insert hook into the next stitch. Yarn over and pull
through. There should be four loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all four loops.

Notes:
CH 1 and CH 2 at the beginning of the row does not count as a ST.

Row 1: (Right Side) DC in third CH, DC2tog CL in next 6 Ch, DC in last CH. Turn. (2 DC & 6
DC2TOG CL)
Row 2: CH 1, HDC in DC, HDC in next 6 DC2tog CL, HDC in DC. Turn. (8 HDC)
Row 3: CH 2, DC in first HDC, DC2TOG CL in back loop next 6 HDC, DC in last HDC. Turn. (2 DC &

Row 25: SC in first SC, 3 SC in CH 3, SC in last SC. (5 SC)
Note: You should be on the right side before starting the border.
For smaller or larger mugs, you can remove or add rows. You will need to end on a repeat of
row three.
Border: CH 1, work 2 SC Sts in each DC and 1 SC in all the other STS, all the way around. When
you get to a corner, work 3 SC STS to turn the corner and then continue with your border. SL ST
to first SC to join. Finish off.

Add your button between rows 1 and 2 or add two smaller buttons to adjust for the size of
mug.
