Post-Secondary Reflection

I researched three colleges for my post-secondary interest project: Chattahoochee

Technical College, Georgia Highlands College, and Kennesaw State University. My safe-bet

school is Chattahoochee Tech, my good-bet is GA Highlands, and my reach is KSU.

Chat Tech also offers certificate and diploma programs in Social Media Marketing an

Entrepreneurship. While Chattahoochee Technical College has multiple campuses, I will focus

more on the Marietta campus. Chat Tech is close enough to my house so I can live with my

parents while I attend. I do not need to get an apartment or pay for dorms. This will reduce the

stress of having to work enough hours to earn enough money to pay for rent, utilities, food, and

transportation. The Marietta campus has a lot of extra amenities as they have multiple labs, a

large library and bookstore, as well as a populated area to stop and get food before and after

classes. Tuition for Chat Tech for a full-time student with 12-hours a semester will cost $12,000.

Georgia Highlands has both 2-year and 4-year degrees in Business Administration with a

focus in Marketing. However, I did not find where I could focus on social media or

entrepreneurship. Several campuses are also close enough that I can live with my parents while

attending, which would also save money and stress.

Kennesaw State University offers a 4-year degree in Marketing or in Entrepreneurship. I

could choose classes to “specialize” in social media marketing. This campus is also close enough

that I could live at home while attending classes. However, tuition would cost me almost double

the other two at $3217.80 each semester at 12-hours a semester.

I chose Chat Tech as my safe bet and number one choice, because I do not want to attend

a 4-year college like KSU or earn an associate degree at GA Highlands. After 12 years of

elementary, middle, and high school, I do not want to take core classes currently. I want to earn

my certificate, so I do not spend 4 years minimum taking classes that are not geared towards my

interests. KSU is the closest to my current job, while GA Highlands is the furthest yet I am

willing to drive a 30 minute drive to Chat, as they have the classes I’d love to take to gear my

future into the right step.
