Analysis of Variance- Two way classification:

When two independent factors might affect the variable of

interest it is possible to design a test so that an analysis of
variance can be used to test the effects of these two factors
simultaneously. Such a test is called a two-way classification of
analysis of variance or a two factor analysis of variance.

Problem:
Three breed of cattle A, B and C were fed by 4 different rations P, Q,
R and S. The following table gives the gains in weight. Test whether
there is any significant difference between breeds and rations at 5%
level of significance.
Rations

A 6 3 2 9
Breeds B 1 3 8 9
C 7 3 5 2

(i) There is no significant difference between rations.
(ii) There is no significant difference between breeds.

Conclusion:
(i) Table of value of F for (6,3) d.f at 5% L.O.S is 8.94.
Fc<Ft
Accept the null hypothesis Ho
i.e.,There is no significant difference between rations.

(ii) Table of value of F for (6,2) d.f at 5% L.O.S is 19.3.

FR<Ft
Accept the null hypothesis Ho
i.e., There is no significant difference between breeds.
