Retail Building Site Observation

Every morning at 8 a.m. before work commence the Contractor have a meeting with all his
foremen and sub-contractors. In these meetings the main contractor delegates works to be
done for the day and solves any issues regarding the materials, equipment and
workmanship on site.

Setting out of the design co-ordinates according to the drawing plans. White chalk to mark
the building foundation and column footings. Gutter line building straight line connection set
out.
9t Digger loader cuts the foundation trench according to marked chalk lines to the specified
depth approx. 700mm. A jumper compactor is used to compact the foundation bedding,
spacers of 70mm height are laid and steel reinforced bars are laid on the spacers and a
concrete layer of 200mm thick is laid in the trench foundation with the width of 600mm.

A team of labourers tie the steel structure togetherm, for all the foundational reinforcement
bars to be used, the reinfoced concrete columns steel bars, and the concrete column
reinforced footing steel bars are all made by a team of labourers before placed or erected on
the site trench excavation and formwork/shuttering.
Scaffolding and structure support equipment handled by a sub-contractor. Mobile trestle
scaffold used.
Bricks, sand and water material provided on site.

Foundation brickwork on top of foundation concrete footing and in between the Reinforced
Concrete Columns (RCC).
Formwork of steel boards and wood boards. Tied with steel clamps.
