such?

ANSWER:

Social Problem: TEENAGE PREGNANCY

Teenage pregnancy is explained as a pregnancy that happens in young girls below the
age of twenty, regardless of whether they are married or not. Teenage pregnancy has become
one of the major social concerns existing in the Philippines as of today because it not only
affects the teenager and her family but the society in general. Records show that in one
decade, 1.2 million Filipina girls between the ages of 10 and 19 already had a child. That's a
rate of 24 babies per hour. According to the most recent data in 2002, 6.3 percent of teenagers
were pregnant; by the year 2013, it had gone up to 13.6 percent. In response to this, last
August 2020, the economic development agency of the Philippines declared the number of
teenage pregnancies as a "national social emergency." The government may be trying to
change things but the pandemic has made matters even worse. If this goes on, the increase in
teenage pregnancy will, in the end, lead to increased child poverty as well as degradation of
the child’s well-being.
