ACCOMPLISHMENT
REPORT

SUPREME STUDENT
GOVERNMENT
SY 2020 - 2021
I. INTRODUCTION

The Supreme Student Government (SSG) is the foremost co-curricular

student organization authorized to operate and implement pertinent programs,
projects, and activities in schools nationwide. It lays the groundwork for good
governance, volunteerism, unity and cooperation by providing the students
various avenues where they can improve their leadership knowledge, skills, and
attitudes. It trains students to become better members of society in accordance
with the ideals and principles of participatory democracy and good citizenship.
More importantly, it helps the Department of Education achieve its thrusts as
indicated in the Education for All (EFA) Goals, Millennium Development Goals
(MDGs) and the Basic Education Social Reform Agenda (BESRA).
Anent to the above-mentioned, the SSG is mandated to lead/participate in
the National Greenng Program and other environment-related activities in
conjunction with DepEd’s core value – makakalikasan. In the light of recent
development involving the COVID – 19 pandemic, the SSG is faced with the
challenge of delivering outcomes amidst strict health protocols restricting the
youth inside their homes.

II. ACCOMPLISHMENT

Trees help to combat global warming by absorbing carbon dioxide,

removing and storing carbon while releasing oxygen back into the air. Other
environmental benefits include the fact that they help prevent flooding and soil
erosion, by absorbing thousands of litres of storm water.

The officers of the Supreme Student Government participated in the

Greening Program by planting trees in their backyard. Most of them opted to plant
fruit-bearing trees which will not only provide shade, but will also become a
nutritious food source. The said activity started in September 2020 with the
officers being informed through their social media accounts.
On August 18, the adviser of the SSG participated in the Division
Federated SSG Advisers and DRRM Coordinators’ Tree Planting Activity in the
grounds of Kalyong Integrated School, Landan, Polomolok. Hardwood seedlings
like narra and mahogany were planted in the area identified by the immediate
community in dire need of trees.

III. CONCLUSION

Despite of the challenges brought about by the COVID -19 pandemic, the
SSG officers of Polo Integrated School managed to uphold the DepEd’s core
value of Makakalikasan through its participation in the tree-planting activity.
Instead of holding the activity in a specific area, the SSG officers planted trees in
their own backyard.

IV. RECOMMENDATIONS

To strengthen the relevance of Polo Integrated School’s SSG in the new

normal, it is primordial to provide the following:
1. Access to internet connection
2. Relevant webinars for youth development
3. Continue the tree planting activity among the youth and raise
awareness about other environmental concerns affecting the
community
