Introduction

Malaria is a serious infectious disease spread by certain anopheles mosquitoes. It is most common in
tropical climates. It is characterized by recurrent symptoms of chills, fever, and an enlarged spleen.

(INSERT) SOLOMON ISLAND BACKGROUND OVERVIEW????//

Honiara city is still known to be one of the most problematic provinces in terms of malaria
endemicity compared to 8 other provinces in Solomon Island. The city have recorded the number
of malaria incidence rate of 53 per 1000 population Annual incidence rate ( report 2015) with the
total population of (76,544) prior to the Honiara catchment areas, (74,170) national census (2009)
and its divided into three (3) political zones.

However Burnscreek community was the main selected sites for our group to conduct the research
study which located in (zone 1) under Honiara city council Health authority (VBDCP). The main focus
is why increasing of malaria cases in Burnscreek even though appropriate and effective measure
have implemented.
In this assignment we design the communication behavioural impact to address the issue
why some household refuse to comply with IRS conducted among resident at Burnscreek
community.
Target Audients: Burns creek community

1. The overall goal:

Restraining malaria vector control (indoor residual spray) by using (combi) design to
reducing malaria cases in Burns creek community by 44% reduction at the end of December
2016.

2. The behavioural objective

Compliance of burn creek community towards indoor residual spraying (IRS)
Intervention implemented to reduce the biting peak of adult anopheles mosquito
from resting indoor and outdoor of all burns creek h/holds

Promote knowledge to the refusal households residents in Burnscreek community

the useful and effectiveness of the IRS

The pie chart below shows the number and the percentage of the none complies h/hold in
Burnscreek community. 7% of the total number of h/hold sprayed were refuse to comply
with the engage activate implemented and it evidently proven that most of the case
detected were come from the refusal household.
