How to play the vocabulary game:

Stage 1
1. Cut out the cards in the photocopiable sheets provided.
2. Shuffle the cards.
3. Display the set of cards with the definitions face-down on the teacher’s desk and the other set of cards
(with the scrambled verbs) face-up on another desk.
4. Divide the class into various groups of approximately 4-5 students each.
5. Get the students to choose one student from each group to come up to the teacher’s desk one at a
time. The student in question randomly chooses a card and reads the definition out aloud. He/she then
goes to the other table to look for the corresponding verb, which is scrambled. Each student only has 1
minute to find the verb in question. When the verb is found, the student goes back to his/her seat and
takes both cards along.
6. The process is repeated by the various groups until there are no more cards left. At this point, each
group creates a sentence with each of the verbs on their cards.
7. The winner is the group which has the highest number of correct sentences.
