7.0 Adjustments

Pump

7.1.1 Maximum pressure setting. Refer to Figure 7.1: General Pump

Diagram on the following page.

Tools required to set pump pressures:

(1) 11/16" [18mm] end wrench

(1) 3 mm hex Allen wrench

1) Set the speed control to 0%.

2) Remove the caps from the standby and maximum pressure

adjustment lugs. Loosen the jam nuts on both pressure
adjustment lugs. There is a small O-ring and washer between
the cap and the jam nut. Be careful not to lose the O-ring and
washer.

3) Turn the standby pressure adjustment screw in (clockwise) until

the screw bottoms.

4) Turn the maximum pressure adjustment screw out (counter-

clockwise) three full turns.

5) Start the pump motor.

6) Read the hydraulic pressure on the pressure gauge. The gauge

snubber must be open.

7) To increase the pump maximum pressure setting; turn the

maximum pressure screw in. To decrease the maximum pump
pressure setting, turn the maximum pressure screw out. Set the
maximum pressure to the value give on the hydraulic schematic
drawing in Section 13.

8) Lock the jam nut on the maximum pressure setting screw after
the pressure is set. Hold the adjustment screw with the Allen
wrench while locking the jam nut to prevent the screw from
moving.

9) Replace the cap on the maximum pressure adjusting screw.

Remember the O-ring and washer that go between the jam nut
and cap.

10) The pump maximum pressure is now set.

7.1.2 Standby pressure setting.

1) Set the speed control to 0%.

2) Turn the standby pressure adjustment screw out. The pressure

gauge will show the hydraulic pressure decreasing. Set the
standby pressure to the value give on the hydraulic schematic
drawing in Section 13.

3) Lock the jam nut on the standby pressure setting screw after the
pressure is set. Hold the adjustment screw with the Allen
wrench while locking the jam nut to prevent the screw from
moving.

4) Replace the cap on the standby pressure adjusting screw.

Remember the O-ring and washer that go between the jam nut
and cap.

5) The pump standby pressure is now set.

7.1.3 Standby and maximum pressure setting test.

1) Set the speed control to 0%.

2) De-energize the oil routing solenoid valves (Section 13).

3) Start the pump motor.

4) The pressure gauge on the pump outlet should read the standby
pressure.

5) Set the speed control to 100%.

6) The pressure gauge on the pump outlet should read the

maximum pressure.

7.1.4 Measuring maximum pump volume output.

The pump volume output, gallons per minute, may be determined by two
methods. Place a flow meter between the pressure test port and the return
test port or by running the Walking Floor conveyor and timing cycles.

To measure pump volume output with a flow meter:

1) Install the flow meter between the pressure test port and the
return test port. Reference the hydraulic schematic drawing in
Section 13. The pressure test port is labeled "B". The return test
port is labeled "E".

2) Set the speed control to 0%.

3) De-energize the oil routing solenoid valves if applicable (Section

13).

4) Open the ball valve to the pressure test port (Section 13).

5) Start the pump motor.

6) Read the pump volume output from the flow meter.

To measure pump volume output by timing Walking Floor conveyor cycle

times:

1) Set the speed control to 100%.

2) Operate the Walking Floor conveyor.

3) Record the time it takes for the conveyor to make 5 complete

cycles. One conveyor cycle consists of all hydraulic cylinders
extending and retracting. One unload cycle begins with all the
cylinders at the maximum stroke towards the load end of
conveyor. All the cylinders move towards the discharge end of
the conveyor. The cylinders reach the maximum stroke towards
the discharge end of the conveyor. The cylinders reverse their
direction of travel and sequence one at a time back to the load
end of the conveyor. The last cylinder to reach the maximum
stroke towards the load end of the conveyor marks the end of
the cycle.

4) Use the formula given in Section 1.1 to convert the conveyor

cycle time into gallons per minute (GPM).
