The poem entitled Siapa Aku? A Satire to Hypocrisy!!! By Bibit Suhatmady has 5
stanzas. From the title we can get the clue that this poem will contain a satire for
hypocrisy. According to Cambridge Dictionary, the definition of satire [noun] is a way of
criticizing people or ideas in a humorous way, especially in order to make a political
point, or a piece of writing that uses this style. Another term that we should consider in
this poem is Hypocrisy. Based on Meriam-Webster Dictionary, Hypocrisy is a feigning to
be what one is not or to believe what one does not : behavior that contradicts what one
claims to believe or feels.

“Siapa aku?” tanyaku kepadaku.

“Aku bingung, aku berada diantara dia, dia, dia, dia dan dia ditambah dia,
tetapi aku bukan dia, dia, dia, dia dan dia apalagi dia.”
This the first stanza. On the first line of the first stanza, we can assume that “Aku” is the
author. The author tries to question about himself to himself. On the next line, the author
clearly expressed his confusion. “aku berada diantara dia, dia, dia, dia dan dia
ditambah dia” in this part we already know that “Aku” is the author but who is “dia”?
Based on the title of the poem, we can say "Dia" is someone who is hypocritical
because this poem is intended to insinuate hypocrisy. But there are many repetition of
“dia” in this second line of the first stanza. Repetition or the use of the same term
several times is the very essence of poetry. Repetition is the main way of creating a
pattern through rhythm. Meaning is obtained through repetition. “tetapi aku bukan dia,
dia, dia, dia dan dia apalagi dia”. So, in the second line of the first stanza the author
wants to emphasize that the figure “dia” is around him.

“Lalu, siapa dia?” tanyaku kepadaku.

“Aku tambah bingung, karena dia berada diantara aku, aku, aku, aku dan aku ditambah
aku,
tetapi dia bukan aku, aku, aku, aku dan aku apalagi aku.”
This the second stanza of this poem. On the first line the author or the figure “Aku” tries
to question to himself about the figure “dia”. From the next sentence to the last sentence
in the second stanza, the figure “Aku” or we assume the author felts even more confuse
about his own existence and the figure “dia”. However, the author rejects that the figure
“dia” is himself.

“Aku bukan dia, tetapi kenapa dia memaksaku untuk tidak menjadi aku, tetapi dia!”
“Dia bukan aku, tetapi kenapa aku harus terpaksa mau tidak menjadi aku, tetapi dia!”
“Aku sebenarnya harus menjadi aku, bukan dia!”
“Karena dia sendiri bukanlah dia!!!”
On the third stanza, the figure “aku” begins to believe in himself. The figure “dia” who
forces the author or “Aku” to be him when “Dia” himself doesn’t do so to himself. In this
stanza, we can perceive that the figure “dia” is hypocrite. The behavior of the figure “dia”
which contradicts with what she/he believes is a proof to say that she/he is hypocritical.
And the author believes that he should be himself, not others.

“Aku tahu siapa dia yang dia tidak tahu kalau aku tahu.”
“Dia bahkan tidak tahu kalau dia tidak tahu.”
“Aku ingin aku tahu kalau aku tahu, itu yang terbaik menurutku!”
“Aku juga ingin tahu kalau aku tidak tahu, aku akan berusaha untuk tahu.”
On the fourth stanza, the author or the figure “aku” wants to let the readers know that he
knows something even the figure “Dia” doesn’t know. In the next sentence, the figure
“aku” or the author feels that knowing is the best for him. The figure “aku” will try to find
out about something that he doesn’t know.

“Aku tidak ingin seperti dia yang tidak tahu kalau dia tahu yang berakhir pada
ketidaktahuan.”
” Dan aku sangat tidak ingin seperti dia yang tidak tahu, kalau dia tidak tahu!!!”
“Aku bukan dia dan dia bukan aku” ttk hbs
On the fifth stanza or the last stanza of this poem, the figure “Aku” feels an ironic feeling
that he doesn’t want to be like the figure “dia” who doesn’t know about his/her
ignorance. We can feel the anger and emphasis at the end of the sentence “Aku bukan
dia dan dia bukan aku” which the author wants to emphasize that he is not someone
else nor someone who is certainly not him.

In conclusion, a poem entitled Siapa Aku? A Satire to Hypocrisy by Bibit Suhatmady is a

poem that contains satire to hypocrite. In this poem, the figure “aku” feels an inner
conflict with himself that he doesn’t want to be the figure “dia”. The figure “dia” is
described as a hypocritical figure, she/he does not know about her/himself but forces
others to be her/him. However, in the end, the figure “aku” believes that he should be
himself and not someone else. In my opinion, while reading this poem I feel the
angriness and the emphasize that the author wants to convey to the readers by doing
repetition with the words “Aku” and “dia”. This can be assumed that the figure “aku” and
“dia” is an irony that usually occurs in real life, where other people like to manipulate
and force other people’s lives on her/him.
