The poem entitled Siapa Aku? A Satire to Hypocrisy!!! By Bibit Suhatmady has 5
stanzas. From the title we can get the clue that this poem will contain a satire for
hypocrisy. According to Cambridge Dictionary, the definition of satire [noun] is a way of
criticizing people or ideas in a humorous way, especially in order to make a political
point, or a piece of writing that uses this style. Another term that we should consider in
this poem is Hypocrisy. Based on Meriam-Webster Dictionary, Hypocrisy is a feigning to
be what one is not or to believe what one does not : behavior that contradicts what one
claims to believe or feels.
On the third stanza, the figure “aku” begins to believe in himself. The figure “dia” who
forces the author or “Aku” to be him when “Dia” himself doesn’t do so to himself. In this
stanza, we can perceive that the figure “dia” is hypocrite. The behavior of the figure “dia”
which contradicts with what she/he believes is a proof to say that she/he is hypocritical.
And the author believes that he should be himself, not others.
On the fourth stanza, the author or the figure “aku” wants to let the readers know that he
knows something even the figure “Dia” doesn’t know. In the next sentence, the figure
“aku” or the author feels that knowing is the best for him. The figure “aku” will try to find
out about something that he doesn’t know.
On the fifth stanza or the last stanza of this poem, the figure “Aku” feels an ironic feeling
that he doesn’t want to be like the figure “dia” who doesn’t know about his/her
ignorance. We can feel the anger and emphasis at the end of the sentence “Aku bukan
dia dan dia bukan aku” which the author wants to emphasize that he is not someone
else nor someone who is certainly not him.
