Day 9: Hunt for the Intersections

Here is one option for finding the intersections of your interests:

1. Find a big space to work on your craft (a huge paper or a whiteboard).

2. Draw a big circle.

3. Write down the 25 specific topics you’re deeply curious about, outside the circle line
OR

4. Use sticky labels, so that it’s easy to move them around. Write one curiosity on each
sticky label. Place them all outside the circle line.

5. Draw lines, that connect 2, 3, or more of these topics, inside the big circle.

6. Write the new emerging topics on the dots where your interests intersect.

Day 11: “Taking Things Public” Schedule

2. Who will be your audience?

3. How will you share your ideas?

Day 12: Identifyingwww.getwsodo.com
and Creating MTP

Examples of MTPs:
• TED: “Ideas worth spreading.”
• Google: “Organize the world’s information.”
• X Prize Foundation: “Bring about radical breakthroughs for the benefit of
humanity.”
• Tesla: “Accelerate the transition to sustainable transportation.”
• SpaceX: “Humans must become a multi-planetary species”
• Github: “Social Coding”
• Quirky: “Make Invention Accessible”
• Singularity University: “To positively impact the lives of a billion people or more”
• Uber: “The best way to get wherever you’re going”
• Pinterest: “The world’s catalogue of ideas”

An MTP is:
1. Like a mission statement, but more than that
2. Huge and aspirational
3. Clearly focused
4. Unique to the company or person
5. Aimed at radical transformation
6. Forward-looking

An MTP is not:
1. Just a mission statement.
2. Technology specific or narrowly focused.
3. Representative of what is possible today.
4. Motivated only by profits.
5. Just a big goal - It must also be driven by a purpose to create transformative
impact.

How to identify and create your MTPs in 4 steps:

1. Identify Purposes

List down 10-15 massive problems that you would love to see solved. Choose the ones
that make your heart ache sometimes, the ones that you deeply care about. Recognize
why they are very important to you. Prioritize and identify your core purposes.

4
2. Find Intersections www.getwsodo.com
www.getwsodo.com
Revisit your list of passions and curiosities. Find intersections and/or connect your core
purpose with multiple curiosities. Recognize the themes and notice any possibilities. Line
up with your dominant flow profile.

3. Create MTPs

From groups of topics and keywords, create your Massively Transformative Purpose(s).

** Tips:
1. Use small papers or sticky labels
2. Write down a keyword on each label
3. Shuffle the words around
4. See connections and create your MTP statements

4. Review and strengthen your purpose.

Ask these questions for every MTP:

• Why do I care?
• What’s in it for me?
• What’s in it for others?
• Is it big enough?

Day 13 & 14: The Purpose Challenge

1. If you haven’t, identify your MTPs before taking this challenge.

2. Take out your journal and start an adventure.
3. Write down a list of your hypothesis and assumptions about the purposeful topic.
As many as possible.
4. Visit a place where you can validate your assumptions. Alternatively, have
conversations with relevant people who can validate or give you more
information about the topic.
5. Wear an observer and interviewer hat. Ask questions, listen with all your senses,
listen beyond words, be very curious. Feed your purpose.
6. Take 15 minutes to journal all of your findings.
7. Share your thoughts and celebrate with the Tribe.
