To the Hiring Committee:

I am writing in support of Erica Lis, a candidate for a teaching position within your district. As the
program director at a Girl Scout summer camp, I have known Erica for at least six years and supervised
her for three summers. I recommend her highly without any reservations.

In her role as a camp counselor, Erica approaches her work with genuine interest in supporting others.
She easily earns the trust of her campers by being kind, respectful, and attentive to their actions and
their needs. This trust enables Erica to successfully lead groups of campers in games or adventure
activities (like climbing an indoor rock wall). She holds their attention in explaining safety procedures,
and she enthusiastically cheers them on as they attempt to reach the top of the climbing wall. The
respectful relationship is reciprocal between Erica and the girls she works with.

Where I’ve seen Erica particularly thrive is in her individual interactions with campers. She invests time
in getting to know the girls – their interests, the sports they play, or which movies they like. She also
supports their individual needs. After a large group instruction, Erica takes time to explain cooking over
an open fire to the girls who need more help. Or she gives them a chance to safely practice away from
the larger group. There are also countless times that I have seen girls happily talk to Erica one-on-one
and open up to her. Erica has a knack for building healthy relationships with her campers, which allows
them to be truly engaged in their experiences, to learn, and to grow during their time at camp.

I am proud to recommend Erica, and I truly look forward to seeing her future success as an educator.
