TOOL // Physical Education Observation Checklist
What is it used for?
The tool is used to record observations during physical education. It provides a structure for quickly collecting
a range of information on student achievement of physical education expectations.
Each skill box contains three opportunities to record student performance with the final one being a
summative assessment.
The use of check plus (√+), check ( √ ), check minus (√- )and NI allows the teacher to identify students who
have developed the skills and those who need more support so as to set next steps.
It is a good idea to keep this tool on a clipboard. As the students are involved in an activity, the teacher can
make quick observations related to particular skills.
