--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
INSTRUCTION: Solve the following problems, correctly and systematically, and show all the necessary figures.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Prob. # 1] Using psychrometric chart, determine:

a) the humidity ratio and specific enthalpy of air at 30 oC DB and 60 % RH
b) the dew point temperature for air at 30 oC DB and 25 oC WB
c) the RH and the mixing ratio for air at 40 oC DB and 25 oC WB.
Note: Show the psychrometric chart diagram for each item.

Prob. # 2] Using formulas with barometric pressure of 98 kPa, determine:

a) the enthalpy and specific volume for air with a RH of 60 % and DB temperature of 35 C
b) the humidity ratio and RH, given a WB temperature of 25 oC and specific volume of 0.90
m3/kg d.a.
c) c) the DB and WB temperatures, given a RH of 70 % and a humidity ratio of 0.018 kg
vapor per kg dry air.

Prob. # 3] An air-vapor mixture has a DB temperature of 30 degrees Celsius and a humidity ratio
of 0.015 kg/kg d.a.. Calculate for two barometric pressures 85 kPaa and 101.325 kPaa a) the
enthalpy and b) the dew point temperature.

Prob. # 4] If the DB temperature is 21 oC and the WB temperature is 17 oC, find the absolute
humidity of the air by calculation and check this answer by the use of the psychrometric chart.

Prob. # 5] Given for an air water vapor mixture that DB = 60 oC, Pt = 300 kPaa, and RH = 50.1
%. Find the dew-point temperature and the humidity ratio.

Prob. # 6] Air in an occupied room is at temperature of 20 oC D.B. and has a moisture content of
0.007376 kg/kg. When air at 20 oC DB is fully saturated, it can hold 0.01475 kg/kg. Calculate
the percentage saturation of the room air. Check the answer with a psychrometric chart.

Prob. # 7] A tank 1 m in diameter and 2 m long contains air at 40 C DB and 50 % RH. The
surrounding temperature lowers at night, and the air in the tank then has a DB temperature of 25
C. How much, if any, water condenses?
